Conference realignment ideas?

One of the great things about the recent NCAA games is the ability to realign conferences. What I'm looking for is ideas for niche and unusual conferences to build.

One of my favorites to do is create an all-Texas conference in the Big 12. Ideas?

Re: Conference realignment ideas?

I personally do feeder conferences and go regional. I have 5 majors ( PAC,SEC,Big12,B1G,ACC). The MWC feeds the PAC, Sunbelt feeds the SEC, AAC feeds the ACC, MAC feeds the B1G and then have the military schools go independents. I promote/demote teams every 3 years between feeders. Worse record in upper Conference goes down while better record gets promoted from lower to upper. I got this idea on here so I won't take credit. I moved Notre Dame to the B1G and yes I have Texas pretty much in the Big12 but they have Arkansas and Oklahoma in with them as well as Kansas. In the Sun Belt I have all Florida teams.

Re: Conference realignment ideas?

Could always redo the conferences so that they match their name. B1G and Big 12 actually have that # of teams, SEC only teams from that geographical area, PAC only Pacific coastal teams, even ACC having their divisions have real coastal teams against landlocked teams.

Too bad we can't change the actual name of the conferences, but some of them (American, Big 10, Big 12, ect) at least leave in the swapertunity to swap out their division names to reflect our changes.

Re: Conference realignment ideas?

I did a Big 4 conference model... sort of like a playoff system since we don't have it '14.

I made 4 superconferences of 16 teams (sorry Big 12, no championship game for you meant you lost teams & BCS qualifier). I have 3 conferences with 12 teams and the rest are 8-9 teams.

I moved a few things around too just to make geographical sense.

And to be honest, I love how things worked out in my dynasty and in the realignment.

SEC - Got Texas, Oklahoma & OK State (lost Missouri)
ACC - Took Louisville & Uconn and then WVU from the Big 12
Pac 12 - BYU, San Diego State, Texas Tech & Boise State added
Big 10 - Gained Missouri, Iowa State along with Rutgers & Maryland

Geographically realigned the Big 10 into North and South... which honestly, still holds every single annual rivalry game in tact! I have no idea why the Big 10 never adopted this!

Re: Conference realignment ideas?

In this years game, I added Louisville, WVU and UCONN to the ACC and took out Maryland, duke and wake. Then I added BYU to the BIG12.

In last years I have added Arkansas and Texas A&M back to the BIG12 it was a pretty fun conference to watch.

I actually did the same with WVU... felt like they belong in the ACC more than anything now with 4 rivals there.

Big 5 Conference Moves
===================
Moved Maryland to Big 10.
Moved Rutgers to the Big 10.
Moved Louisville to the ACC to replace Maryland.
Realigned Big 10 to East/West Division that they will be playing by 2015.
Notre Dame the only Independent team.

The Leftovers
===================
This is a three tier relegation system. I have no problems with mid majors making it to the BCS if they have earned it (note the American's AQ status has been removed) and in this system the best midmajors consistently play each other. The Best team in the lower tier will get promoted each season, while the worst team in the higher tier will be relegated. If playing as a midmajor you simply have to win your conference and you will get promoted while if you are the worst in your conference you will be relegated.
