If it makes you feel any better this would have almost definitely wound up on the cutting room floor as they rebuilt the game for PS4.

EA still wanted to create a college football game. They renewed their license with the CLC after the NCAA decided to pull out of the agreement. The series went south when the schools decided to pull out of the game... to wait for the results of the lawsuits.

But EA took initial steps towards making another game. Their partners dropped out which forced their hand. How do you convey that towards blaming their fans? The fans are responsible for the Big 10, Pac 10, SEC's decision?
I don't disagree, and perhaps I didn't word what I was trying to say well. I'm not saying they actually blame the fans, but the idea that this game would have blown all other sports games away with it's customization comes off as a taunt in my opinion to the fans.

If they were truly on the verge of all this, they easily could have released the game with no actual schools or conferences, and let everyone use teambuilder to add them. Hell, they still produce another another football game in Madden, and I don't see any of the customization they are going on about.

Perhaps using the word "blame" was wrong, but suggesting that the fans of this game would have got everything they wanted and more with this would-be latest release is nothing more than a taunt in my opinion. I guess I don't see any reason to taunt unless you are blaming everyone but yourself for creating a game that was making millions off of people you didn't want to pay a cent.

Alright, rant over.

The first game on any gen was really lacking so I don't see the purpose since it is a transition.

A big problem with this approach is the fact EA hosts/curates Team Builder.

Just like they had to take down the NFL teams created in TB, they would have had to take down any licensed material as soon as any of the schools asked them to.

What we really needed was a set of offline editing tools, so the user generated content could be hosted anywhere and without much concern for murky waters of IP violations and fair use that comes with the mod community.

Unfortunately, there's (apparently) just not enough money in an open game like that.

I think this is probably why it won't be long before someone else makes a college football game.

Customization, no matter what genre the game, is becoming increasingly popular. The NCAA series made EA millions of dollars a year, and that was with EA's negative stigma that it carries with consumers.

Someone will take a shot, it's just a matter of when it will happen.

I would've taken a port from last gen. Just so I have it on my Next Gen system and wouldn't have to keep my PS3.

Just my opinion, but my wife hates the PS4 in the entertainment system, so when I have to break out the PS3 and take up more space to get my NCAA fix she ain't going to be happy.

Nothing stops the yearly NCAA hype train, even when the series is dead. lol.
