If you're talking about '14, it would be because of the perks of the coaches skill trees being applied. If you mean other years, I wouldn't know.

Along with perks, I believe the games were set up for players to get on hot streaks and cold streaks in each game. Like the impact players on ps2/og Xbox days. I could be wrong though.
