I got into the franchise with FIFA 10 and am currently playing FIFA WC. So, being new to the game, I still have quite a few things to learn.

One of the things I am trying learn is specific to the in-game tactics. Now, as a hardcore NHL gamer, the NHL on-the-fly coaching options (D-pad, as well) are a valuable part of my game. Therefore, I have to believe the same holds true in FIFA with the in-game tactics.

Would someone care to explain each of them in detail, then situations when to use. Even a link to details would be great.

Positions

Formations

My personal favorite is a pyramid formation with 4 defenders, 3 midfielders who play a bit behind the line, 2 attacking midfielders, and 1 striker.

Whatever formation you choose will depend on where you have an abundance and talent in.

I think he means the tactics mapped to the d-pad (offsides play, long ball, etc).

Those are so useless IMO, I completely forgot those!

They would be good however if there was a coach mode on the game
