GK Ability Slider - what do you have and why?

Hi All,

I am almost set on my sliders now, but am still undecided on GK Ability (and in turn, shot error). I play on World Class, Assisted shooting.

I have been playing with Shot error at 50/55, GK's at 50/50 and still seeing a few goals.

However, I see most people set GK Ability a lot lower (23 seems to be a common one), but I think alot of people are on manual controls, so is this why you set GK lower?

I would be interested & appreciate some help on what settings you use, and why. I just want as realistic an experience as possible!

Thanks
James

Whil using sliders, normally people lower GK´s ability. I did try 15 and it felt great. But lately decided not to waste anymore time with sliders and started playing default all the way. Because of that, GK´s are default as well and despite what I thought before, I´ve seen lots of variation and almost no supersaves at all after 6 games in my career mode.

Hmm it's interesting, I may consider dropping to 45 or even 40, but can't see me ever going as low as 15!

I am SO close to getting my sliders done, eager to get playing without making any more adjustments. I would love to play all default on WC but it would just be too difficult for me..

So I thought. But once you get the hang of the Cpu decisions and use proper tactics you can get away with draws and wins. It just needs practice, and lots of patience on defense and also attack. That's why I'm now playing 15 mins halves. Yes, I play less matches, but the overall experience os great, and there's always the feeling I don't have to rush in order to score before It's too late.

Good for you that you've cracked it!

I have reduced my slider changes by alot over the last week or so, and think I have almost hit that sweet spot now. I hope to get close to default but for now I will stay roughly as I am.

I can't see me ever going to default for CPU pass speed though!

Yes that was my Main problem. But in WC they don't speed up that much, and I did adapt fairly to the default speed. In the end its a personal taste thing.

Indeed- atm I have it on 35. Which is the biggest change from default on any sliders. Most are just 1 or 2 clicks different.

Re: GK Ability Slider - what do you have and why?

I know I've responded on other threads so you're familiar with my thoughts on the GK slider, but I still find that it doesn't work as across the board as we'd expect.

If you decrease it, you'll see higher scores, no doubt about it. The issue is that even at 0, the GK will still make most saves and sometimes make spectacular ones at that - I draw attention again to the fact that when first working with my slider set that had that value at zero, I had a game where a GK tied the record for saves in one match. While not completely unrealistic in a vacuum, knowing that he was supposed to be at the absolute worst possible ability level (i.e. set to 0), you wouldn't expect that outcome. It's a strange "outlier" that is unfortunately likely not an outlier.

What you'll start to see when you pull back the curtain on some of these sliders (including GK Ability) is that the game just won't let you score in certain scenarios and it has a LOT of tools in its arsenal to stop it. An errant pass for no reason, a magical tackle, the uncanny blocked shot, a dubious foul, or a miraculous GK save. These things will persist regardless of sliders because they aren't taking place on a neutral playing field - it's just engineered outcome of a possession that is measurably in the game. People call it scripting, cheating, nerfing, etc, but the fact remains it's all the same thing, it's real, it's pretty much scientifically measurable, and you can't unsee it once you see it. It's less AI and more "AD" - "Artificial Difficulty"
