Is the DROP BACK tactic in FIFA21 still the best way to beat CPU in FIFA22?

Back in FIFA21, the easiest way beat CPU is be super defensive drop back whole game and then counter-attack through ball, is this still working like magic in FIFA22?

At least if you're playing on a next gen system, it's very different from 21. That could very well still be the most effective - I mean, counter attack is the most common strategy for a reason - but it's definitely not nearly as easy as before. The CPU is way better at defending and dribbling is not OP like it used to be, at all.

Also, pressing, especially with how improved second man press is (finally!), then scoring from the counter is also super effective. Defending deep against the CPU, at least on the higher difficulties, feels a bit suicidal at the moment to be honest due to long shots being so OP.

They redid the second man pressing mechanic. It's effective once again and the best it's been in almost a decade, so you can now play a more aggressive pressing and trap game if you wish. With the right setup, it's super effective in the right situations.

The risk with pressing is that the CPU will kill you on the transition, and the CPU is now especially lethal on the higher difficulties. But the CPU is also super effective at breaking us down now, especially with the space they are afforded in your final third and the OP long shots, so it's really just about as risky to sit deep and counter.

If it's risky to sit deep, then no reason to not press.

But look, 22 is very different from 21. Playing the CPU is a very different experience. You're going to need to play it to determine if it's for you.
