CHL

I loved that EA incorporated the CHL into last year's game and I'm looking forward to seeing the up-and-coming NHLer's again in NHL 13. I thought it was a great addition to be able to draft real prospects in last year's game and it added so much to the Be A GM mode. However, there's one thing that I think was severely lacking and I'm hoping made it into this year's game.

I'd like to be able to see statistics from CHL players and I'd like to be able to see team records, who won the Memorial Cup, etc. I suppose EA would have to include a playable season in the CHL and that might be the problem. But here's to hoping.

It should extend to all players actually. What teams they played on, accurate records, awards etc.

Great suggestion though.

Re: CHL

No doubt. I keep yearly records on my dynasty page for all my players and I'd love to have CHL stats for players I draft.

i agree...its kinda hard to pick your drafts with just ratings (which is highly suspicious based on how EA assess these players).

Re: CHL

It'd improve scouting, too. I just hope that the stats would be realistic. There are always guys getting 100+ points in the QMJHL, stuff like that.

Well as much as I'd like to agree with you on that, I can't. Unfortunately the best way to pick players is by ratings. I wish that were not so. I wish that stats where the best indicator (in some cases) as to whether or not a player would pan out.

I'd also like to see the boom and bust picks. Some early rounders turning out to be terrible and some late round guys turning out to be superstars.

Re: CHL

what im trying to say is Stats + Ratings (estimate) will give as better option of selecting a draft instead of just having the ratings. i agree that stats in CHL doesnt mean the play will be a good nhl'er. but at least give us somethign besides ratings. i agree also that the stats should not be as "over padding" stats.

Re: CHL

Just catching up on this thread with a couple of thoughts...

In BAP, you start in the CHL if you choose, playing out your 16 year old and 17 year old years, so there's no gameplay reason that stats couldn't be simulated for draft prospects. In BAP, stats are tracked and correlated for NHL players, so what's the big deal?

If I were a GM, I'd sure look to see if my prospect had a solid +/- if nothing else. What value do you assign a kid who always seems to be on the ice when his team scores? But I'd also want to see his physical stats, hits, fights, PIM's to see how aggressive he is, since scorers aren't the only guys you need to succeed.

Also, ratings are great, but they're really just opinions. In the real world, scouts rate players with a mix of objective and SUBJECTIVE views. Maybe a playmaker RW in Red Deer, who statistically is a solid kid gets a more favorable rating (in real life) than the same RW playmaker in Victoria.

Stats are objective, and should never be, nor have been excluded, from use in this game.
