Money is real tight this time around, and it looks like I'll have to actually choose between the two, rather than buy both, which is what I've done for years.

I'm leaning toward NHL, but fear I might get jumpy since Madden comes out two weeks before NHL.

Thoughts? Opinions?

Which is your preferred sport? That could possibly help. Also look at the improvements to each game from last year that you may like and compare.

I would get NHL first. Madden is popular and will be on sale much sooner than NHL will be. Wait for Black Friday, EA always lets the football titles go on sale pretty fast. NCAA is already about 30-40 bucks.

If I absolutely had to choose, I'd say NHL 13. Here's why:

1) Madden 13 is still at the point of "work in progress." The Infinity Engine is still half-baked, so you're not going to see the final results until next year.

2) Everything Madden is trumpeting, NHL is saying "I'm doing it better." Physics? Presentation? Career mode? Check, check, check.

3) Don't be a Cake-eater.

This imo is solid advice.

My own personal gut feelings are though...I've always gotten just more gaming satisfaction from playing NHL over Madden.

I love football, yet I'm looking to get NHL 13.

As much as I like the improvements made in Madden, the ones made in NHL seem far superior. The last video posted, "presentation blog", really made my choice that much easier...

I would go with NHL. Madden gets stale after a while in my opinion. NHL seems to be the more polished game this year.

Like everyone else said, Maddens more likely to go on sale. You could also just wait for the demos and reviews if you don't mind waiting.
