Finally figured out why so many good young prospects go to free agency

So for some reason In the franchise I have been running a ton of good young prospects, usually high draft picks. Are not getting entry level contracts and are becoming UFA’s. The reason this is happening is because the game counts players without contracts as having a contract even if they have not been offered during the re-signing period. This causes franchise to show that a given team has say 47 players under contract when they may only have 35 or so players with actual contracts. You have to release players you don’t plan to sign during the re sign period if you do not want their contract to count towards your total. This however does effect morale negatively as players are upset you released a player because they do not recognize he is out of contract. Unfortunately this is the only workaround as the CPU is most likely offering these prospects entry level deals under the hood but they are unable to accept due to the total number of contracts counting as 50. They need to fix this as the CPU does not use the workaround of releasing players out of contract it doesn’t not plan on resigning

Hm, I thought they said they fixed that this year. I could be totally wrong here, but for whatever reason I thought they mentioned this is the Franchise mode deep dive blog and video.

It’s better than years past, but for some reason it still has prospects who shouldn’t be getting let go. Perfect example is Jesse ilonen. His potential is too 6 forward and he’s a 70 overall. I just signed him and traded him back to his team for a 7th rounder like 5 years down the road as a work around
