Why Did This Happen?

So me and this guy were having a bit of a back and forth fight on ranked. He rocked me a couple of times and went for the 3 jabs and an overhand. So this time I decided to try and duck the overhand and land an uppercut. High risk manoeuvre that I thought I timed just fine. But the duck didn't dodge the overhand and I got KO'd. I felt like I had him too and the result was me losing the fight. I don't understand?

You got caught coming up out of the duck.

I just checked and with nunes there are only 2 frames where you are protected on the way up from a duck.

Had you held the sitck deflected maybe even just one frame longer, you would have had it.

Re: Why Did This Happen?

Is ducking meant to dodge overhands? I haven't had much success doing that and have just been trying to time uppercuts without a duck or low kicks against them, which is actually pretty easy.

Assuming ducking does dodge overhands and I was just off with my range/timing when I've tried it, maybe there was a little lag or you were too close or something?

It normally works tho with the timing and range I was at. I thought I had it bang on. Is head movement not as effective when rocked or something? You can definitely tell that's what the issue was from the video, right? I guess her head movement isn't the best.

Cheers for the explanation.

I don't think it has anything to do with being rocked, no.

Ducking just has less evasive frames on the return to standing.

I guess I shouldn't go for the counter in future unless I'm feeling like taking the risk. Should just stay in the ducking position.

I *think* you were only a frame off, but I can't be 100% sure.

Slightly off topic but something I have been wondering.

Does stamina affect block?

Does being rocked affect block?

I think these factors should probably be taken into account? After all a guy with no stamina can't hold his hands up easily nor can someone who is rocked.
