The Push Kick

I'm definitely a boxer/wrestler at heart, so I'm far from a 'kicking expert', but over the past month or so I've really started to work some nice roundhouse body kicks into my game.

It's paying dividends!

In this past LEC I decided to try and take my kicking game to the next level by throwing some front kicks/push kicks/TEEPs into my flow. But pretty quickly I found out this was a bad idea.

Why?

NO stopping power. Even if a guy is charging at me 110% and I time a body front kick PERFECTLY it doesn't even slow him a tiny bit. He eats it and just plows forward.

At least the body roundhouse kick can slowdown (or even stun) opponent --- but after awhile I found that throwing any sort of front kick to the body was all but worthless.

Thoughts??

I know it was Bantamweight but still....

I'm sure this is not new news to most of y'all but thought I'd get your opinion.

Would love to see stopping power/damage of body kicks boosted a good amount, especially if someone runs into it at full speed and it connects at the ideal range/extension of the leg

...and in return, strikes to the body don't 'charge up' the combo multiplier.

Re: The Push Kick

It's definitely underpowered. Maybe they're compensating for the insane EA MMA Teep?

In all seriousness, the "special" front kicks to the body like the karate snap kicks Lyoto Machida has are pretty useful, but the "traditional" teep does almost nothing, so much for the "foot jab"

Re: The Push Kick

The teep is definitely not implemented correctly. I train in real life, and we use teeps and push kick to maintain distance all the time. Why do they work in real life, because they fu*king hurt! You take a stomp to the guy and see how much you want to keep moving forward, if you even can.

exactly !

Look at JDS vs. Rothwell a couple months ago --- one well timed kick made Rothwell fly all the way across the octagon! Not to mention it stole some of his breath/willpower, I'm sure

I definitely agree. The push kick along with the side kick to the body that Wonderboy has. They are kind of useless in this game. They also get stopped by jobs most of the time.

Yep, right now they're pretty useless unless you're looking to eat some unblockable shots.

Re: The Push Kick

A push Kick, and a teep should have different effects.

A Thai push kick is more about stopping the opponent from coming forward, where the teep is more of a "foot jab" to the gut.
