High block is bad

Just fought a guy who did nothing defensively but hold high block and run, couldn't finish him in 2.5 rounds of unblocked body combinations. Seriously. 3 knockdowns, over 100 unblocked body shots.

I don't know how anyone can justify blocking the way it is now.

Just venting, but it's so obviously bad that it deserves to be in the internet, imo.

I would like to see increased body and leg damage if person is using high block.

Re: High block is a bad joke

The way the current game is,one fix to improve the stand-up would be to increase strike damage,if the opponent is holding High block and you strike his body or the other way around.

That's one way to give some emphasis on single strikes instead of just mashing combos in hopes of your opponent not running away and sitting there to take em.

One thing i'd like to see,is for body kicks to cancel jabs. It feels that many people hold High Block, come torwards you and you hit their body and just shrug it off and land a jab that makes your player get a seizure and freeze everything he is doing, then get bombarded by a bunch of other jabs unable to do anything but time a parry, which has gotten hard to land.

Re: High block is a bad joke

I like your suggestions.

I don't hug high block, but I almost never use low block. I never really feel threatened by body strikes, and tend not worry about my body at all. I'm guessing there is some body strike you can throw for a animation and then attack head.

I also would prefer more emphasis on single strikes over multiplier damage.

I'm sure this kind of stuff doesn't effect the dude's that are the best at the game. I'm level 6, and i notice it in a extremely high percentage of quick match fights. I say that because the dudes that are real good or use YouTube combinations probably aren't effected by it much.

At least in quick fight camping high block happens with most different opponents.

Transitioning blocks on reaction to strikes is already too slow in the game, so for everyone suggesting the high block increasing body damage and vice versa that change would only take the game in the opposite direction. Making it easy to mix up opponent in a street fighter tekken kinda way. Maybe movement speed should be much slower when cradling your blocks like a new born kangaroo making it easy to force turtles out of there shells.

Is it just because english is not my native language, or am I just too dump to get what you are saying? Are you actually telling that you landed 100 unblocked Body strikes, and getting 3 knockdowns (not just health reactions), but are complaining about the block? So at first: In which way is a block involved if you are talking about unblocked strikes? Second: You got 3 knockdowns, still was unable to finish (recovering fighters can not block either), nor hold them on the ground maintaining position while probably having way more stamina?
If a fighter is JUST running, you could either let them and control the center winning every round, while they are backed on the cage. Personally I try to get a hold of running fighters by clinching them, or taking them to the ground. But as I said, just control the center and you'll win against a runner. Blocking doesn't win matches (defence might).

I'd like to see individual strikes be more effective. I get so sick of chasing people while they hold block and run away.

I've been seeing a lot of decisions lately because you really can't finish on the feet without combos and it's hard to land more than one strike when your opponent is running and has a force field around their head.

High block is broke.

There is no defense for it,
no argument for it.

Broke as a joke.

Match was Diaz vs Hendo that made me post this. I was unloading on his body, it was ugly. I have gotten finishes much faster with body strikes from Bantamweights. It was ugly. When he gets knocked down he recovers quick, even a weak grappler can waste a lot of time on the ground.

If you aren't blocking body and holding high block, and someone is landing a crazy amount of body strikers it shouldn't be very hard to finish.

Against a average player in a Diaz vs Hendo match clinching them or trying takedowns is just a waste of time, takedowns outside of the clinch are extremely easy to deny. Even most in the clinch aren't bad to deny.

High block is overpowered, and the way body and leg damage is now holding high block is a rewarding technique. I think it's very annoying to see people's forearms like that.

I really don't understand the logic, my guess is EA uses it to make individual fights longer or something. It doesn't make sense, a similar example is finish the fight while standing. It's more of a recovery gift for your opponent than a reward for you rocking opponent.

High block and finish the fight are both huge contributors to why people would want to clinch so much.
