Never played EA MMA on ps3, but Submissions do look awsome

Yeah, the x-ray part looked stupid in my opinion.

But the animations of the fighters struggling against each other in the submissions looked excellent, like significantly better than UFC 2, which I'm shocked by (I never played any of these games on PS3 or before, so I can't believe how good they look).

EA in its sports games seems pretty trapped in limbo between wanting to look like a TV broadcast and wanting to make you feel like you're part of the action. I think they err toward 'broadcast' too much (in Madden and UFC at least) and would be better off if they would accept some TV broadcast immersion breaking and put in things like blacking out.

I think, UD3 much better than EA MMA in the submission system. I don't like button smashing and X-ray effect. It's very arcade.

The only problem with doing something like this is it totally takes the game somewhere else. I could see it if it was a first person view to start with. However, it isn't so it makes it look out of place. That's my opinion on it. I would prefer a first person view, but that would be amazingly hard I'm sure. Especially on the ground.

It was a lot more than that. That was just one aspect that I couldn't stand. Button grappling was probably the biggest issue. Even with the alt scheme. Didn't like the controls. Didn't like the way the ground felt like it slowed to a crawl compared to the striking. Etc. Lots of reasons.
