I may be wildn'out but mixed martial arts fighters normally don't hop backwards anything like what's depicted in the game. In game looks nothing like what C Mac is doing in those gifs. I'm guessing you don't see much back dash exploitation in division 1 quick match.

Watch the first gif again. Not just Conor. Aldo is back "dashing" also.

Conor bouncing makes it harder to see his back "dash". But theyre there. He hops/slides back at like 2 seconds in very pronounced. And obviously the counter KO is off it as well.

Sure, the animation is not great. But the mechanic itself is very realistic, and the hop/slide/dash back, whatever you wanna call it, happens allllll the time irl.

I think the animation looks goofy as all get, but it's most certainly not the only thing in game that looks goofy.

I have lots of issues with animations in the game. an example is I would have much less of a problem with high block if that animation was remotely decent. I know fighters do occasionally hold there forearms in front of their face but its nowhere near effective in real life as it is in the game.

in the game I see lots of backdashing immediate after throwing combo. it's not natural at all to hop backwards the exact moment you finish a combo, you'd be fighting your own forward momentum to do unnatural hop backwards.

in the first gif they aren't throwing strikes, just pawing. Again, a big problem of mine is the animation. the Fighters aren't really hopping before they jump back in the game. it just looks so goofy, especially when thrown multiple times in a row and you have to lackadaisically trot forward trying to close distance.

I still don't understand why some fighters don't hop in the game, but figure it's animation based. Another thing I noticed is fighters than hop around lot fade in the fight. I'm guessing that's why Conor didn't bounce around much when fighting Nate.

If you don't agree that's awesome, just saying what my problem with it is.

What I see in those GIF's: Back stepping just slightly getting in and out of range

What I see on EA UFC2: Everybody has a thruster pack that shoots them 5 feet backward



Is the back dash a realistic tool? Yes.
Is it commonly used in MMA? Yes

Is it represented in a realistic and balanced way in the game? Hell no

Sliding out of the pocket after throwing a combination is what you want to do EVERYTIME....Whether your cutting an angle laterally, or just sliding back out.. it happens constantly. If you don't you'll get countered, and cracked.


The animation needs to be improved, but the mechanic needs to be in the game, otherwise we're just playing rock em sock em robots.

Worse than the animation though, is the fact the back dash "pulls" strikes that should have hit. Now that needs to be fixed before anything else IMO. I can deal with a bad animation, but when the mechanic is borderline broken, there's an issue.
