That, I think.

They are probably wanting to stress test the server, going for too many people, rather than too little. They want enough people on that game to get valuable data and if they are going to keep it small scale, its less likely they'll find the important issues before the game comes out.

I mean, I like MMA games but they are no Call of Duty or Battlefield. I'd expect there to be significant less sign-ups than those games would get. Which should be good for us hoping to get in atleast.
