Yeah but I don't think we should just give them a pass on that should we?

I'm glad they adjusted what they did adjust because it's not like they did nothing. Strikes breaking the clinch is a great balancing tool. I just really like the idea suggested about certain positions being locked to certain styles.

Also, would it be impossible to get movement on the cage clinch? This isn't just a realism issue, that would be a great balancing aid to help people who keep getting put on the cage by a clinch spammer. The ability to move while on the ground or in the clinch would really add so much to the grappling.

I think, this is easy to fix. Hopefully, they fixed it post beta.

I'm almost positive they didn't. GPD said the gamechangers did not get a chance to mention this one to them, and pretty much left it at that. Not to say they can't patch it later though.

I'm not holding my breath.
This seems like one of those issues that is so specific to hardcores that I could see it going unchanged.

I’m fine with it defaulting to thai against rocked opponents. That happens a lot in fights. Against non rocked opponents I would like to see it vary based on style. Double undertook for wrestlers, thai for guys that use that a lot, even single collar (although that’s underpowered in this game) .

Totally agree about over under being the default clinch against the cage. I also hope to see the takedown against the cage animation much more in the release version of the game. And perhaps a change to the way fighters engage in the clinch overall in the game

As someone who likes to grapple (unpopularoverh opinion) I was a bit disappointed that they didn’t change the way players engage in the clinch after they changed the striking mechanics.

Personally, I think shooting for takedowns should result in the clinch much more often e(like in real MMA fights), giving strong grapplers the ability to control fighters without having to reach out and hug them like the current clinch animation allows.

It would be cool if when you are shooting for a takedown, there was an option on the grapple dial to clinch up instead of go to the ground. This would make it easier to avoid strikes when going for the clinch.

Right now, the only way a takedown ends up in the clinch is if the is defended (either against the cage or in the open). Clinching should be decided by the fighter initiating the takedown just as much (if not more) than the fighter defending.

If not I’m UFC 3, hopefully in the next installment in the series the clinching mechanics will be more realistic
