2006-2007 Coaching updates

I'm updating the coaches' ratings to go along w/ the appearance/name changes for my next franchise & roster releases. Obviously this is more art than science, but basically I'm looking at the range of each coach attribute from the default roster to start out. In addition to star players & consistent development of a particular position, I am also trying to consider all of the following:

--Team success in W-L, offense, defense, & special teams rankings

--Previous experience outside head coaching to determine an offensive or defensive bias if unnecessary (this includes 2 significant jobs prior to head coaching & what position they played in college or the NFL).
^Note: this does not mean that a HC w/ an off or def reputation will necessarily be strong on that side or weak in the other categories overall-- just means that this history plays a role in how those attributes are weighted. e.g. Brian Billick obviously had a struggling offense over the past 8 years despite his reputation from Minnesota & ditto (but vice versa) for Marvin Lewis going to the Nati from Baltimore. So, a Jon Gruden would not be penalized for being a former QB, esp considering Monte Kiffin has been in his corner running the Tampa-2 very well. Which leads into:

--Off/Def coordinator reputation will be considered when looking at the ratings relevant to those positions.
^So, if you have a pass rush master like Jim Johnson, Dick LeBeau, or Steve Spagnulo at DC, then there willl be boosts to the DL/LB and/or pass rush ratings. Former standout NFL LB Jim Haslett would give a boost to LB rating. A Mike Martz would help your QB rating, while an inexperienced Jim Hostler would hinder it. Also, if the coordinator was fired or had a negative resignation (which I have noted via comments), that wouldn't be positive either.

--Other Specialist coaches will be considered if they are particularly well-regarded:
e.g. Russ Grimm would be a boost to OL ratings. Another example is Bills' assistant HC & SpTms coach, Bobby April. Buffalo ranked 24th in ST when he was hired after 2003. Since then, he has had the Bills ranked 1st, 1st, 2nd, & 6th in the league while no other team has even stayed in the top-10 for that 4-year stretch. Former Bears def coordinator, Ron Rivera, would also be recognized for pulling ultra-conservative 3-4 DC Ted Cottrell out of his shell & into the world of blitzing multiple LBs. Mike Singletary has been widely recognized for his work w/ all-pro ILB Patrick Willis.

Here is what I've compiled so far:

As you can see, I haven't had a bunch of time yet to consider each of the dozens of position coaches around the NFL so if anyone wants to throw a name out there for me to look at, feel free to do so.

My '84 roster will have the coaches updated as well. Everything but the names, I guess (unless I can convince Finn to help...hint,hint). I am guessing it has to do something when playing franchise, so why not.

The next release will allow you to edit coach names at the expense of the bio. I figure changing the name was the most important thing so in the interest of time and ease of implementation, the bio goes "bye-bye" if you change the name.

puja.....

Can you please post where you found all that coaching info? When I redo my rosters, im going to edit the names and appearances of the head coaches but more importantly, I want to know who the OC and DC are so it will be easier for me to change their playbook.

Thanks.

Re: 2006-2007 Coaching updates

^most of the coordinators i just knew. for anything i didnt know-- like the years of a previous job-- i just it looked up on the web; team websites all have a coach profile w/ bio & espn does too. easiest way is probably just wikipedia as long as you are wary of errors or outdated entries

keep in mind that the info i posted is for 06-07; already 20 of the 64 coordinators have changed for next year
