There are guides in the forums that address this. Easiest console to get rosters onto (IMHO) is the original XBOX. I use FTP on my softmodded system; you can also use an ActionReplay or Mega-X-Key if you have them.

Damn. Any tips for the editor? I'd like to go through and edit them myself to get them reasonable, but I can't figure out how to see the players overall rating.

Thank you so much for doing this. Is there any chance you will do a madden based roster for the 2018-2019 season? Could you use some sort of donation? Let me know if I can help in any way or if possible show me how to use the conversion in the roster editor?

Yea, I was planning on doing one again. That would also get me going on adding new features & fixing bugs in my editor.
I'm waiting on their site to update to start collecting the data though.

Actually, if you're up to it you could gather College player info for the Draft class.
The most challenging part is getting their Skin color. That info is not kept as measurable data (obviously).
My attribute translation program assumes all QBs, Punters and Kickers are white, everyone else is assumed black for players with appearance data not already in my database (I have to try to adjust skin color by hand). I don't yet have data on skin color for the draft class or rookies. Let me know if you can help gathering that data on rookies and College players.
The following format would be good:

#fname,lanme,Position,Number,College,DOB,Hand,Weight,Height,BodyType,Skin,Dreads,
Frank,Gore,RB,21,Miami (Fla.),5/14/1983,Right,217,5' 9",Normal,Skin 6,No,

EDIT:
I found it pretty easy to get the Skin data on the Rookies by just using the Madden ratings site (using the debugger in chrome and changing the query when hitting the 'filter' button).
