Re: Reviving the Boom | A Seattle Seahawks franchise story

Seattle -- Welcome to the latest installment of my “Morning Coffee” blog, Seahawks fanatics. In this blog, I have some tidbits, musings and rumors to discuss. I’ll be doing a weekly report on all things related the Seattle Seahawks. That could an be injury take, trade takes and even mock draft takes as the season progresses. Hope you join the discussion!

• The Seahawks aren’t planning to make a change at quarterback, despite having Sam Howell and Geno Smith on the roster. The boos were loud at Lumen this weekend but Mike Macdonald is not going to bench his preseason wonder kid just yet. Another bad performance by Matt Corral and the keys of the offense could be handed to Sam Howell. Perhaps that Mock Draft released wasn’t all that wrong with the Seahawks taking Cam Ward of Miami.

• Kenneth Walker III has called the performance against the Chicago Bears as “embarrassing”. For the second consecutive home game, the Seahawks have been blown out. Granted, it was Matt Corral’s poor performance that led to the scoreline but the receivers didn’t get enough separation and the Bears’ had the advantage by winning the trench battles throughout the game.

Seattle started from within the 8 yard line three times. That being said, their touchdown drive in the fourth quarter was a 10 play, 97 yard drive. It came far too late.

• Mecole Hardman enjoyed a nice reboot to his career to begin this season. He had an impressive pre-season and followed that up with two special teams touchdowns in consecutive weeks before a groin injury has ruled him out for six weeks. It’s a huge loss IMO. Hardman was the type of weapon the Seahawks can rely on. His absence is going to hurt the Seahawks in the pass game more so that they got comfortable enough with him to banish Tyler Lockett from Lumen Field.

• To add further insult to injury, Seattle will be without starting defensive end Carl Lawson, who is dealing with turf toe and is expected to miss the next two games, and rookie defensive tackle DeWayne Carter, who saw a considerable amount of snap increases with the loss of Johnathan Hawkins. According to sources, Carter’s PCL sprain will rule him out for the next two weeks. As a result, the Seahawks have called up defensive tackle Cameron Young from the practice squad. Seattle has released Blake Martinez as part of the transaction.

Kenneth Murray was busy against the Chicago Bears, notching a team high 14 tackles with four tackles for a loss. Seattle traded for him during the draft and then traded for Trenton Simpson a week ago. This came after signing Jerome Baker and Tyrel Dodson in free agency. Seattle are still trying to find out the future of their inside linebackers so a solid performance by Murray gets noticed by the coaches and that’s a good thing.

Good to see my guy Walker break a big run to start the game against the Rams, THEN add another hundy, nice. Corral super efficient there. Unfortunately, the Hawks could not defend the home turf against the Chicago Bears of all teams, guess it's back to the drawing board for Corral!

Can't wait to see what Mike Macdonald has up his sleeve to get this defense rolling.
