NFL Playoffs: 09-10 Simulation

Wild Card Weekend

Saturday, January 9, 2010 (4:30 ET)
(9-7) New York Jets vs. (10-6) Cincinnati Bengals

These two teams met the last week of the NFL season and it was a game the Jets needed. And they indeed got it. They destroyed the Bengals 37-0 but the Bengals hardly played their starters. But that was horrbile, emassing only 77 total yards and not even getting on the scoreboard. The Jets have the number-one defense in the NFL and also have one of the strongest running games as well. But can rookie Mark Sanchez stay cool during the playoffs?

Prediction
New York Jets (14) vs. Cincinnati Bengals (17)

Saturday, January 9, 2010 (8 ET)
(11-5) Philadelphia Eagles vs. (11-5) Dallas Cowboys

Another pair of teams that met the last week of the season and the battle was won by the Cowboys, 24-0. The Cowboys swept the Eagles during the regular season but it is very difficult to beat a team three times. But the Eagles stunk that last game of the season and have no momentum going into the game, while the Cowboys are riding high, winning three in a row and producing two shutouts in a row. But the Cowboys choke in the playoffs but this years team seems different and they might go deep into the playoffs.

Prediction
Philadelphia Eagles (24) vs. Dallas Cowboys (31)

Sunday, January 10, 2010 (1 ET)
(9-7) Baltimore Ravens vs. (10-6) New England Patriots

The Ravens had an up and down season but found themselves in good position last week and it was a win-and-in situation, in which they did, beating the Raiders 21-13. The Patriots won their division but didn't look like the the Patriots of old. They took a big blow when they lost Wes Welker in the season-finale, when he tore both his ACL and MCL. Thats a huge loss, but young Julian Edelman can fill that role well but not as good as Welker, who almost averages 10 catches a game. This will be a good, hard-fought game and expect a nail-biter.

Prediction
Baltimore Ravens (17) vs. New England Patriots (24)

Sunday, January 10, 2010 (4:40 ET)
Green Bay Packers (11-5) vs. Arizona Cardinals (10-6)

An interesting matchup between two teams that can pass well and between a veteran and a young quarterback in Kurt Warner and Aaron Rodgers. The Packers are rolling into the playoffs, winning 6 out of the last 7 games. While the Cardinals seemed to struggle at the end of the year. But we saw what the Cardinals did last year, so don't doubt them. Expect a high-scoring game and also, expect that Arizona home crowd to be loud this week, which was a factor for their two home playoff games last year.

Prediction
Green Bay Packers (35) vs. Arizona Cardinals (31)

ITS PLAYOFF TIME!!

Bengals hang on for wild finish, win 16-10, advance to Divisional round

Ochocinco had a big day, getting 2 catches but for 91 yards and the game-clincing touchdown

(9-7) New York Jets vs. (10-6) Cincinnati Bengals
Paul Brown Stadium
4:30 PM EST

Cincinnatti, OH (AP) - What a way to start the NFL Playoffs.

In a game where Mark Sanchez threw for 400 yards, the Jets could not pull off the win, even though they actually threw for a touchdown in the closing seconds. Sanchez threw a touchdown to David Clowney but a holding penalty brought it back and two incomplete Sanchez passes sealed the deal for the Bengals.

"It sucks right now. We won the game but a penalty killed us. But we shot ourselves in the foot the first three quarters and we started to get it going, we were too late." a sad Mark Sanchez said after the game.

Jay Feely also missed a field goal in the third quarter, and if the score would of stayed the same, all the Jets would of needed would of been a field goal. Mistakes was the theme for the Jets all night.

The Bengals did not play their best football on offense but the defense stepped up and gave them this win. Carson Palmer played well, with 205 yards and a touchdown and it was enough for the win.

"Our defense played great. It was team effort and we hang on for this win. But we can't celebrate too much. We have a lot of improving to do before our next game." Marvin Lewis said at the podium.

The Bengals will either get the Colts or Chargers next week. Both matchups are not in the Bengals favor but this team is unpredictibale and any kind of team can show. The Jets are eliminated, and will be golfing the rest of the year.

This is a neat idea.

Can't wait to see how the Packers game plays out.

Gonna start the Eagles-Cowboys game now. Recap it later.

Maybe get the Ravens-Pats too. We'll see.
