South Bend, Indiana - It was the tale of two halves, as Notre Dame managed to overcome three interceptions by starting quarterback Tommy Rees. It was not a good day for the sophomore starter. After coming into the game with a ton of hype, he was unable to live up to it. The team had two red zone visits with Rees, but he was unable to capitilize on the great fielding given by his defense. After throwing his third interception in the endzone, a very upset Brian Kelly relieved the sophomore of his duties at quarterback and gave redshirt freshman Andrew Hendrix.

On his second drive, most of the air was sucked out of the lungs of Fighting Irish fans as Hendrix threw his first interception and it was returned for a touchdown. It did not look like the Fighting Irish would do much through the air, but, with under two minutes left in the half, Hendrix tossed the first touchdown of the game on a beautiful 39 yard pass to Michael Floyd. A minute later and Hendrix would speed passed the defenders for a touchdown. Heading into the half, under the leadership of Hendrix and the amazing defense from the Irish, Notre Dame was only behind by three points.

Before heading back into the game with his team, Head Coach Brian Kelly had a few words to say about his defense. "It's great to see our defense having no trouble handling a great quarterback in B.J. Daniels. Sure, he's broken off a few runs, but we've kept him to nearly nothing through the air." The coach then added a few comments about his quarterback play. "We're off to a slow start in the passing game. It's a bit of a disappointment, admittedly. I would have liked to see more output from Rees, but I think Hendrix is going to have a great second half."

In the second half, Hendrix would not make any mistakes and would help lead his team down the field. Cierre Wood would score on a nine yard run to give the Irish their first lead of the game. They would not lose it. The defense of Notre Dame proved to be far too strong for the Bulls, as they could not mount a comeback. Hendricks would throw another touchdown pass, this one for 61 yards, to Michael Floyd. This would seal the deal for a Notre Dame victory. After the game, when asked if Hendricks would start in the game against Michigan, Coach Brian Kelly had this to say. "With a doubt. Hendricks played with a lot of heart, and helped our team get back into it. Though, without our defense, I feel we would not have won this game. It's not everyday when you can hold a team to under 200 yards. Especially a team like the Bulls."

Game Notes
Both teams are looking like the opposites of one another heading into this game. Unfortunately for Michigan, Notre Dame is looking to attack a weak passing defense that was exposed during the 23-17 loss against Western Michigan. Andrew Hendrix will get the call against the rival Wolverines. Even with the slip-up from Michigan, this, like the other rivalry games, is looking like it is going to be a good one.

Good Start love ND. Golden Domers......

I did notice when you did story for home games it's not Notre Dame , Indiana it should be South Bend, Indiana is the town/city ND is in. Only problem when I play ND dynasties they get too easy playing Army, Navy, Air Force they were always blowout easy W's. Will you have them join a conference? Love to see them go Big East if you do since all other sports are Big East.

Notre Dame is just north of South Bend and is not considered a part of the city. So, I just went with what the area was called. I will change it to South Bend, as it makes a bit more sense. I may have them join a conference. I'm not sure. I consider the Military games their FCS games. Next year should be a bit difficult with Michigan State, Michigan, Miami, Stanford, BYU, Oklahoma, and USC. Those seven games could easily take me out of bowl eligibility. If I do choose a conference, though, it will be the Big East. With Boise State, UCF, Houston, SDSU, and SMU heading to the conference, I think it would be a lot of fun.

Anyway, thanks reading! Should have the Michigan game up soon. Played it yesterday. Had to do some studying for classes last night, so I couldn't get a recap up.
