2019 NFL Draft
As the NFL's 3 biggest days between Free Agency and kickoff have finally ended the Marshalls added a lot of talent on both sides of the ball.
NFL Comparison: Aaron Donald
Ed Oliver has the potential to be a franchise defensive player. He contains a rare combination of speed, size and athleticism. Oliver clocked the 40-yard dash run at 4.70 seconds, which is phenomenal time for a defensive lineman. On top of his speed, Oliver has size and functional strength. He is a well-rounded player who is effective in both phases.
The negatives:
Commits to runs heavily and had a nagging knee injury during his season at Houston. Show's slight attitude problems and got into heated debates with college coaches on the sideline.
Broncos drafted DE Nick Bosa with second pick in the draft.
Pro Comparison: Jabaal Sheard
Carl Granderson is a long rusher with a good NFL frame. Shows the ability to reduce surface area and duck underneath punches; can continue up the arc with decent tilt to threaten the set point.
The negatives:
Athleticism widely disappoints. Lacks explosiveness off the snap to be a true threat to corner and does not have the agility to drop in space as a coverage player at 255 pounds. Has very little, if any, power to his frame, especially in the lower half. Gets blown off the ball easily. Lack of discipline and over-aggressive penetrator*
NFL Comparison: Clay Matthews
'The Predator' Porter Gustin plays with a non-stop motor which makes him a threat to make a tackle at every moment. He is someone who will close the back door with authority, chase a runner several yards down field and register a sack on a moving quarterback. Gustin also brings good athleticism to the field including excellent closing speed.*
The negatives:
Biceps and toe ailments limited him to four games in 2017, while a knee injury held him back in training camp leading into 2018. Ankle injury is the most recent that required season ending surgery. Not good in pass coverage and tendency to overpersue .
NFL Comparison: Tyrann Matheiu
Isaiah Simmons is fast, very athletic, loves to play, very aggressive always has a chance to be disruptive, hard to block with a freaky skill set
The negatives:
Switched to linebacker for his final season at Clemson. Is known to jump balls and bite on run fakes that lead to huge plays for opposing teams.
NFL Comparison: Johnny Manziel
Shea Patterson makes plays with his ability to dance around the pocket and avoid tacklers. He is able to extend plays and sometimes that leads to big plays. He also throws a nice deep ball.
The negatives:
Holds onto the ball too long, needs to get the ball out quicker. Has the issue of being short in stature and that leads him to get passes tipped. Hot and cold when it comes to passing accuracy. Poor ball placement. Makes risky throws.
Pro comparison: Sterling Shepard
Runs decent routes, better than average hands
The negatives.
Kicked off team for social media incident with coaches, lack of maturity, lacks top end speed.
Pro Comparison: DJ Fluker
TJ McCoy is a good run blocker who has the power to be a solid back up in the NFL.
The negatives.
Up and down during college tenure. Can be confused by stunts and lacks the speed to handle NFL outside pass rushers. Poor hand placement, leans on players resulting in easy swims or spins to get in the backfield on pass plays.
