Re: FSU: The Rebuild and "the Return" (NCAA 2019 Dynasty)

BIGGEST WINNERS OF SIGNING DAY

1. Florida State

For the first time since 2013, Florida State signed the number one class in the country. And for Coach Cameel Verner, Jr ...he's won the recruiting war for 9 consecutive seasons. His previous 8 was at Georgia Tech. Florida State finished this season at 8-5, which was a substantial improvement from last season where they finished 6-7. The Noles have no where to go but up from this class. They filled tons of needs on the Offensive Line and got a bunch of star power at the skill positions. The finished with a total of 8 five-star players from this years class, most of any team in the country.

Top signed players:
WR Jamar Reid 6'3" 200 Bryant, AR
ATH Sarderrious Minter 6'3" 225 Pompano Beach, FL
DE Kenyatta Bimbo 6'7" 214 Missouri City, TX
CB Isaac Boles 6'3" 195 Milwaukee, WI
RB Zaleel Hamby 6'1" 220 West Palm Beach, FL

2. Georgia Tech
Head Coach Matteo Sledge of Georgia Tech kept the recruiting trail and prowess going for the Yellow Jackets left behind by Cameel Verner. Sledge pledged a ton of big time players on the roster and still may have the deepest returning roster of any team in the country. The Yellow Jackets were able to secure a total of 6 five-star recruits this cycle. They are no stranger to stockpiling talent.

Top signed players:

CB Montell Mack 6'2" 205 Charleston, SC
WR Tre Glenn 6'6" 215 Annandale, VA
RB An'Quelle Bigby6'1" 215 Lauderdale Lakes, FL
DE Jadal Newberry 6'6" 255 Chicago, IL
DE Kelvin Moday6'5" 270 Dade City, FL

3. Texas
Texas who appeared in the College Football Playoff had a very good showing in recruiting this season. They finished off their year with three five-star recruits and a plethora of high four star recruits. Texas has gotten back in the mix lately and plans to be around for quite sometime. They got their QB of the future and some high profile skill guys for him to work with.

Top Signed Players:

RB Antwan Robison 6'0" 200 Newport News, VA
QB Carter Washington 6'4" 218 San Clemente, CA
ATH Tre Gold II 5'10" 175 Dallas, TX
S Antonio Sanders 6'2" 210 Cleveland, TX
DT Mike Sonomo 6'7" 280 Mesquite, TX

4. Notre Dame
Notre Dame surprisingly with a great Signing Day, signed some big names to put them in the top 5 in recruiting and finish second in the American Conference in recruiting behind Georgia Tech for the top spot in the conference. The Irish finished with three Five-Star players and a plethora of Four-Stars to top off their class.

Top Signed Players:

ILB Daemarko Ross 6'2" 231 Washington,DC
RB Ryan Neal 6'1" 210 Dothan, AL
TE Linwood Carlin 6'6" 260 Baldwin Park, CA
TE Adam Clark 6'7" 237 Westerville, OH
DE Emerson Gaddy 6'4" 251 Pinellas Park, FL

5. Alabama
Alabama just barely edged out Michigan for the #5 spot in the recruiting rankings. Picking up high four-star Chi Dunning on Signing Day gave them the edge. Alabama had a poor season on the field this year, finishing 7-6, but they however were still able to land a strong recruiting class. And they got a number of guys who can immediately help the Tide next fall.

Top signed players:

ILB Jet Voss 6'5" 237 Ft. Myers, FL
OG Teodoro Stanfield 6'6" 340 Perryton, TX
OLB Chi Dunning 6'3" 241 Burlington, KY
FS Shareif Massey 6'4" 204 Cheektowaga, NY
OT Sean Howell 6'6" 321 Glendora,CA

Re: FSU: The Rebuild and "the Return" (NCAA 2019 Dynasty)

PREFERRED WALKONS SELECT FSU

Florida State ended the season with the number one recruiting class. However, Florida State landed 4 Preferred Walk Ons to add to its star studded class. These four guys had multiple division 1 offers, but decided to enroll at Florida State as Walk Ons. Coach Verner released a statement on these four guys earlier this morning.

“We are very glad to have our Walk Ons here at FSU. They are very high humbled charactered athletes, who will no doubt help us become a better football team. They are Blue collared guys, who are willing to work hard day in and day out and I have no doubt in my mind will help push this team to an even higher standard. They had the opportunity to select a different path for their education as well as on the field, but they chose us and we are ecstatic to work with them, develop them, and groom them into outstanding young men.”

Lets take a look at some of the Walk Ons that selected FSU this past signing day.

QB Kenzel Randolph

Tallahassee, FL (Lincoln)

6’1” 180

Offers from: UAB, Florida Atlantic, Buffalo, Appalachian State and Miami (OH)

Randolph had some very good offers this past season, especially from a UAB team who won Conference USA and finished 11-2 on the season. UAB was ranked as high as 21 in the polls this past season, so Randolph definitely had an opportunity to play for a Group 6 school , but he opted to become a preferred Walk on at FSU. His Senior season at Lincoln, he finished with 2,145 yards and 16 Touchdowns passing while adding 560 yards on the ground.

DE Todd Morsley

Pompano Beach, FL ( Pompano)

6’3’ 226

Offers from: SMU, La Tech and Idaho

Morsley, who is high school teammates with FSU Signees Sarderrious Minter and Ray Snyder, was committed to SMU before decommitting and becoming a Seminole. Morsley had 8 sacks his Senior season at Pompano Beach High.

LB Johnie Pinsley
5’10” 210

Bradenton, FL (IMG)

Offers from: Wyoming, Alabama State, Bethune Cookman College, West Florida

Pinsley who’s highest offer came from Wyoming, didn’t have as many D1 offers as the others, but he still had an opportunity to had his career paid for even at the division 2 ranks. FSU didn’t sign and Middle Linebackers in this years class which was a position of need, but Pinsley comes at a need from a depth stand point at the position.

LB Darryl Verner
6’0” 200

Lithonia, GA ( Cobb High)

Offers from: Georgia State, Georgia Southern, Southern Miss and Jacksonville State

The Nephew of head Coach Cameel Verner had an opportunity to play at multiple D1 schools but opted to further his career at FSU as a walk on. No , he didn’t have the high school star prowess as his Uncle, nor does he have the sheer athletic measurables as his cousin, Cameel Verner, Jr who is now playing for the Carolina Panthers, and was also a 3 year starter at Georgia Tech when Verner Sr, was the head coach there, but you cannot deny the genes. Verner plays mostly Outside Linebacker, and had 65 tackles his Senior year at Cobb High.

Re: FSU: The Rebuild and "the Return" (NCAA 2019 Dynasty)

Even though Florida State finished with the # 1 recruiting class, they still missed on a key position of need at Middle Linebacker. On today, the Noles got some good news from the NCAA Transfer Portal on one Graudate Transfer, and regular two transfers. All coming from Coach Cameel Verner’s old school of reign, Georgia Tech. The Noles were able to land commitments from (RS)JR LB Rashad McCollough, (RS) JR DB/RB Carmelo Clancy, and (RS) SR LB Akeem Austin.

“I’ve recruited these guys twice now.” Verner said with a laugh. “They are high character kids, I know what they bring to the table from an athletic stand point, They all know the system so the adjustment should be marginal, and they’ve all played at a very high level. Rashad gives us a bit more depth this season at the ‘Mike’ position. He’s a hard nosed kid, very smart, very physical and intelligent. “ Verner also touched on the other two prospects also. “Akeem can play both the Bandit and Joker Linebacker spots. Hes a good pass rusher and is good in space for his size. And Carmelo is just a tough, gritty guy. He played Running Back his freshman year, then switched to the Hawk(Strongside Nickel) his second year and really excelled there. So he brings us some versatility on both sides of the ball.”

Here we take a closer in-depth look at the transfers:

LB Rashad McCoullough
6’4” 240
Chorpus Christi, TX

As a Recruit: , LB , #9 Overall , #1 ILB. Selected Georgia Tech over Alabama, Texas and LSU.

Rashad McCoullough, a former five-star recruit hasn’t necessarily lived up to his lofty ranking so far in his career. He was redshirted his first season at Georgia Tech, played sparingly as a Redshirt Freshman, mostly special teams. He played some as a Redshirt Sophmore before injuring himself early in the year and being declared Medically DQ’d which allowed him to become transfer eligible and allowing him to have immediate eligibility. He will have 2 years to play 2 at FSU.

ATH Carmelo Clancy

5’10” 208
Brooklyn, NY

As a recruit: ,RB , Unraked in the top 250, #38 RB. Selected Georgia Tech over Rutgers, Buffalo and Syracuse.

Clancy was the lowest rated Running Back taken by Georgia Tech in 2025. However, after his redshirt season, he opted to change positions due to a loaded backfield, and moved to Defense. There he played the Nickel back, but in Verner’s scheme he played the “Hawk”(Strongside Nickel) spot, and he had an amazing Redshirt Freshman campaign with 62 tackles, 5 Sacks and led the team with 5 interceptions. However due to the extreme depth at Defensive Back at FSU, its unclear if Clancy will stay at DB, or move back to his original position at Running Back. Clancy Graduated early at Georgia Tech and has 2 years to play 2.

LB Akeem Austin
6’5” 248
Asbury Park, NJ

As a recruit: , DE , Unraked in top 250, #26 DE, selected Georgia Tech over Boston College, Penn State, and Michigan State.

Austin graduated from Georgia Tech and will have 1 year to play. He brings versatility to the defense in being able to play Defensive end or either Outside Linebacker spot and brings a Ton of experience to the team with 2 national championships under his belt. Altough listed as a DE, he was moved to LB upon arrival on campus which is very normal for Verner to do when he gets athletic Defensive Ends on campus. He was in a very loaded roster at Linebacker at Georgia Tech, while the roster cupboard at FSU isn’t bare, the talent level at Linebacker isn’t what it was at Georgia Tech just yet. Austin could help out FSU this season in a variety of ways and see more extensive playing time this season with the Noles

Re: FSU: The Rebuild and "the Return" (NCAA 2019 Dynasty)

The 2029 season is months away, and Spring practices are about to begin shortly, but now that all the coaching spots have been filled, we now take a look at Florida States Coaching Staff going into the 2029 season. After Florida States inaugural season under coach Cameel Verner, Verner had a big turnover in his coaching staff this offseason in hopes to cement one of the best staffs possible this season. Player Development is key for him, and he made sure he hand picked guys who fit that criteria. The Spring will be very important to see if his plan is going accordingly so far.

Head Coach: Cameel Verner

14th year Head Coach
161-36 Record

2nd Season with FSU
Last Year Record: 8-5

Offensive Coordinator/Quarterbacks Coach: Tommy Bowden

We finally have a Bowden back inside of Doak Campbell Stadium!. That’s right, head coach Tommy Bowden is the new OC and QB coach for the FSU Football team come 2029. He had been out of football since his last stint at Clemson, but Coach Verner talked him out of retirement and back on the field as the new OC for the Noles. Bowden still has strong recruiting ties to the state of Florida and is widely known as a great personable coach that relates to the players as well as players parents.

Assistant OC/Running Backs Coach: Rich Rodriguez

Rich Rodriguez comes in as the Co-OC and will help with the new Uptempo style that the Noles will implement this season. He is very well respected as an Offensive Guru and will help bolster a struggling offense from a year ago. He is one of the highest paid assistants in the country currently after inking a deal with the Noles.

Receivers Coach: Jason Archie

The Former All American FSU standout played with Cameel Verner when Verner was an all American Linebacker. At 6’6” 240 pounds, Archie was a mismatch for all DBs and that didn’t stop when he was drafted in the 1st round of the NFL Draft either. Archie played 16 seasons in the NFL for the Green Bay Packers and Miami Dolphins before retiring. With the abundance of talent, Archie has a ton of skill to work with at the WR position. However, this is his first Coaching Job so experience may become a factor.

OL Coach: Dan Roushar

Widely regarded as one of the best Offensive Line assistants in the world, Roushar left the New Orleans Saints to become the highest paid Offensive Line coach in football. FSU led the nation in Sacks allowed last year as well as yards to first contact. The Offensive Line was abysmal in parts of the year and Verner made it a priority it got fixed. Verner even paid Roushar a signing bonus out of his own pocket to ensure it got fixed. FSU hauled in a nice corps of lineman in this years recruiting class, so developing last years lineman, as well as the incoming freshman will be a daunting task for the highly regarded assistant.

Defensive Line Coach: Rohan Malice Sr

One of the best Defensive Lineman to grace Bobby Bowden field was Rohan Malice Sr, who had the pleasure of coaching his son last year, former Five-Star Rohan Malice Jr. Malice is one of two retained assistants from last years coaching staff. Last years defensive line did a very good job and he showed a lot of promise in developing the talent at the position. With the incoming recruiting class, Malice could pose to be even better than a year before.

Defensive Coordinator/Linebackers Coach: Mike Singletary

The NFL Hall of Fame Linebacker signed with FSU after coaching in the AAF for the Memphis Express. Mike Singletary will bring the discipline that Verner also believes in and the two seem they are a match made in heaven as it seems both have the same core ideas and thought of what they want in their defense as well as Linebackers. Singletary will be the Defensive Coordinator and LB Coach this season for the Seminoles.

Cornerbacks/Special Teams Coach: Terrell Buckley

A long time Seminole great finally has the chance to coach for his almer mater. Buckley will coach Cornerbacks as well as special teams. Buckley brings a ton of coaching experience to the back end this season that struggled mightly this past year. Verner is hoping this legend can bring some of the swagger back to the back end of the defense , because they acquired a ton of talent in the recruiting class this past cycle.

Spud/Ace Coach: Rome Brown, Jr

If any unit played to its billing it’s the Spud and Ace positions (Nickel). Brown did a pretty good job considering the lack of talent they had at the position. With a year under his belt, as well as a jump in talent, there very well could be improvement at the level of play at this position from a year ago. The former Florida State Safety played with Verner back in the early 2000’s and his unit played with the same intensity and passion those units back in those days played with as well.

Safeties Coach: Deion Sanders Jr

Not only do we have a Bowden back on campus, we now also have a Sanders also. Deion Sanders Jr joins the staff as the Safties coach. He has the wits and intelligence just like his dad and in this defense the Safeties have tons of responsibilities on the field so it’s important that they are prepared to the upmost, and Verner feels that the younger Sanders can deliver just that. He’s the only defensive assistant without any big time coaching experience, but that’s also a good thing because he’s around a veteran group. Will be interesting to see the Safety play this season.

SPRING GAME TIME ANNOUNCED

Coach Cameel Verner announced that this years Garnet and Gold game will be a night game. Verner said the fans..and players deservea Primetime experience with the work they are putting in this spring.

"We decided to reward the players and fans with a Primetime experience. It's a long time between now and August, so we want everyone in Seminole nation to know what it's like to play on the big stage in the fall..and we are going to start that early. So thats why we decided to go with a night game for the Garnet and Gold game." Said Verner.

The Noles came off an 8-5 season under its first season with Coach Verner, and have landed some key components they feel will help them in the coming season. Verner vows to see improvment from its team this season.

"We have a long way to go, but theres no doubt you will see a better football team come the fall. Guys have their heads on straight and having been working hard this off season. It's a wide open race and I dont care who finishes first. Plays are there to be made so someone needs to be there to make them."

Spring Practice starts on Monday for the Noles and will conclude on April 13 for the annual Garnet and Gold game.

Re: FSU: The Rebuild and "the Return" (NCAA 2019 Dynasty)

SPRING PREVIEW

The Noles will enter their second Spring Practice starting Monday with 2nd year Head Coach Cameel Verner. The Noles have set some pretty high off season standards this year after falling short of them last year finishing 8-5. Here we take a look at some key areas to keep an eye on as spring practice is set to begin for the Seminoles

1. Offensive Line

With the hiring of Offensive Line Coach Dan Roushar, the offensive line looks to have some huge improvements from last year. The Offensive Line came in at 119 out of 130 teams in Sacks allowed. If the Noles plan on competing at a National Title..or even ACC Title, that has to improve. And Coach Verner knows that. (He's won 5) So he made sure the Offensive Line is getting the coaching they dserve by hiring one of the best Offensive Line minds currently in football.

2. Secondary

Unlike a normal Cameel Verner defense, the secondary was one of the Nations worst pass defenses. Opponents eclipsed the 400 mark 3 times last season and 300 yards 6 times. The Secondary lacked overall talent, and FSU fixed that through recruiting and hope the coaching changes also can help with overall development. The ACC has some top notch signal-callers yet again this year, and the secondary needs to vastly improve over last year.

3. Mental Toughness

Even as a player at FSU, Cameel Verner had one of the strongest mental mind sets you can ask for. And he carried that mindset over as a coach Coaching the Yellow Jackets to 5 National titles. FSU somewhat lacked that in certain moments this season. They must build physically this offseason, but also mentally. If the Noles plan to get where they have set their off season standard to, then Verner must test their mental mindset daily. Verner holds one of the toughest Springs known in College Football. This year should be no different. With a new staff, and new goals in mind, it will be interesting to see where things pick up from here.
