A New Era In Raiders Football

The Autumn wind is a Pirate Blustering in from the sea. With a rollicking song he sweeps along swaggering boisterously. His face is weather beaten he wears a hooded sash with a silver hat about his head. And a bristling black mustache. He growls as he storms the country a villain big and bold. And the trees all shake and quiver and quake as he robs them of their gold. The autumn wind is a Raider pillaging just for fun. He'll knock you around and upside down and laugh when he conquered and done..... And welcome to a new era in Raiders football as the Inaugural season of the Las Vegas Raiders gets under way. A new city a new building and a new start. The Raiders finished the 2019 campaign with a 7-9 record despite having several key players go down with injuries but this year they look to bounce back and make a strong push to make the playoffs in 2020. Going into the preseason thy are many questions. The receiving core looks to be in pretty good shape with the addition of 1st round pick Henry Ruggs III along with 3rd round pick Lynn Bowden Jr and Bryan Edwards. We have also pick up 2 big free agents in Nelson Agholor and the wily veteran tight end Jason Witten from the Dallas Cowboys. If the Raiders look to make the playoffs the defense must improve on a shoddy defense from last year and it starts up front. The Raiders brought in new defensive line coach Rod Marinelli from the Dallas Cowboys and he also brought Defensive Tackle Maliek Collins to help stabilize the middle of the Defensive Line they also brought in 2 new Linebackers Nick Kwiatkoski and Cory Littleton to sure up the middle. And with 18th pick corner back Damon Arnette Along with Damarious Randell to sultify the back end. Now that all the pieces are in place and its time to get under way.

Re: A New Era In Raiders Football

Preseason game 1

Raiders 14 Seahawks 36

The Las Vegas Raider opened their 2020 preseason with a 36-14 loss to the Seattle Seahawks. The Raiders came out strong on their opening drive capped off by a Josh Jacobs 13 yard TD run. Russell Wilson and the Seahawks answerd back with a drive of their own to tie it at 7-7 and they never looked back as they continued to march up and down the field on the Raiders second unit The Raiders second and third unit could only muster a late touchdown in the closing minutes of the game. Derek Carr only played only one series as did most of the starters Carr went 3-5 for 26 yards all 3 of his completions went to the rookie Henry Ruggs III. Jason Witten led all receivers with 4 catches for 46 yards. Rookie Lynn Bowden Jr led all Raiders rushers with 64 yards on 11 carries Josh Jacobs finished with 36 yards on 6 carries. On defense well it wasn't much defense played by the second and third units the Seahawks did pretty much whatever they wanted as they gashed the Raiders on the ground and through the air. Coach Gruden was asked about his teams performance and he said we just didn't compete after the first unit left the field and that's the bottom line we are looking for guys to play hard ans physical Raiders football and some of the guys did not do that tonight. Lucky for them we have 3 more games to show major improvements because if they don't we will find players who will. Next up in preseason game 2 The Raiders travel back to the bay to take on the San Francisco 49ers.

Re: A New Era In Raiders Football

Preseason Week 2

Las Vegas Raiders 37 San Francisco 49ers 20

In Santa Clara California the Las vegas Raiders put last weeks setback behind them as put up an outstanding performance against the 49er 37-20. The Raiders totally dominated the game in the trenches by racking up 243 yards from a trio of running backs. Rookie Lynn Bowden Jr led the way with 146 yards on 18 carries the longest was a 44 yard TD scamper as the Raiders were trying to kill the clock late in the 4th quarter. Josh Jacobs had 13 carries for 59 yards and undrafted Rod Smith had 7 carries for 43 yards and 2 TD's. The Raiders truly showed why they have one of the best Offensive lines in football. We asked Bowden Jr about his 1st 100 yard game as a professional. Well its just the preseason I just want to go out and work hard and show the coaches what I can do and try to contribute to the offense the best way I can. Derek Carr also played well as he went 15- 19 for 144 and a TD to his new favorite target Henry Ruggs III who had 4 catches for 47 yards. Ruggs looks like he's going to be a problem for opposing defensive backs this year with his speed and quickness. The defense stepped up this week and put together a pretty good game holding the potent 49ers rush offense to 45 yards and racked up 5 sacks and 2 interceptions. Carl Nassib led the way with 2.5 sacks. Coach Gruden commented by say we played Raiders football today this is the kind of effort we need if we plan to play deep onto January. The offense line moved people the backs ran hard and the defense got after it this is what i like to see. Up next for The Raiders their home opener against the Arizona Cardinals.1185306460-850x560.jpegbowden_vs_ark_2.jpeg225px-Rod_Smith_(running_back)_2019.jpeg

Re: A New Era In Raiders Football

Preseason game 3 Not A Happy Homecoming

Las Vegas Raiders 28 Arizona Cardinals 30

The Las Vegas Raiders dropped their home opener 30-28 to the Arizona Cardinals. The Raiders who came in looking to get a good look at the starts as this was their dress rehearsal game the offense didn't have much trouble moving the ball as they put up over 400 yards in total offense which 162 of them coming on the ground, but the problem were the ill advised turnovers 5 to be exact. Derek Carr account for 3 two were bad decisions and the third was caused by bad throw as he was being hit. Later in the 4th quarter Lynn Bowden Jr coughed the ball up deep in Cardinals territory to kill the drive and the final turnover came as Marcus Mariota threw an interception as the Raiders were trying to get into field goal range to attempt a game winning kick. Carr finished the game going 13-19 187 yards 2 TD's and 3 interceptions Josh Jacobs led the way in rushing 111 yards on 24 carries and Tyrell Williams led all receivers with 4 catches for 98 yards and a TD. The defense played well despite have to play with a short field on several occasions they constantly pressured Murray forcing him to run around just to get a pass off. The defense accounted for 6 sacks in the game and accountless amount of hurries he was very uncomfortable im the pocket with the amount of pressure he was seeing. Coach Gruden after Today's game I was happy with how the defense played despite what they were dealing with but our offense can't turn the ball over and put them in bad situations that's one thing we can't do and that will get addressed next 2 week in practice as week get prepared for the season opener. Gruden was also asked about next weeks game he said you probably won't see much of the starters they are a few positions on the back end that we want to look at to fill out our roster for the season so you will see a lot of those guys this weekend. As a note they were a few injuries during this weeks loss Arden Key will be out 4 weeks with a dislocated Elbow and 1st round stud Henry Ruggs III out 5 weeks with broken ribs. The Raiders hope to come out of their preseason finally against the L.A. Rams with no further injuries as the roster get cut down from 75 to 53. Raiders-Cardinals-Football-12.jpeg

Re: A New Era In Raiders Football

Week 4 Preseason Finale Against The L.A
Rams

Las Vegas Raiders 37 L.A.Rams 27

The Las Vegas Raiders closed out their preseason with a 37-27 victory over the L.A.Rams. The Raiders defensive line continued its splendid play as the pressured and harassed the Rams Quarterbacks all night long the only thing that kept the Rams in the game was the Scrambling ability of their backup Quarterback John Wolford. Nevertheless the Raiders racked up 7 sacks and a Interception Carl Nassib led the way with 2 sacks. The offense looked very explosive against the Rams defense despite all of the starters not playing in today's game. Leading the way was Rod Smith and Marcell Ateman. Smith finished with 126 yards on 23 carries with his strong preseason performance he looks to have locked down the final Running back spot. Ateman looks like he might be headed to the practice squad after the 7catches for 165 yards he put up this Afternoon. Coach. Gruden says that he was pleased with the way his team finished off the preseason and looks to carry that over into the regular season opener against the Carolina Panthers.1031815204.jpg.0.jpegusa_today_13189525.0.jpeg

Re: A New Era In Raiders Football

Year 1 Week 1 Season Opener

Las Vegas Raiders 14 Carolina Panthers 34

It wasn't a very pleasant day for the Las Vegas Raiders as they drop their season opener to the Carolina Panthers 34-14. It was disastrous from the start as the Raiders took the opening drive sown the field and missed a 29 yard field goal and the Panthers came back and marched down the field to get one of there own to take a 3-0 lead and they were off and running. The Raiders offense could not move the ball as the Panthers were all over everything nothing the Raiders did on offense seemed to work. Carr finished 21- 31 for 304 yards and 2 TD's but most of that came in the second half as they were trying to play catch-up and Tyrell Williams caught 9 balls for 142 and a TD that was the only bright spot for the Raiders. As for the defense they have seen better days as they could not stop the Panthers passing attack as Teddy Bridgewater completed a whopping 84% of his passes going 32-38 for 323 yards and 3 TD's. The Raiders could not get any pass rush on him as he stood in the pocket and like a sniper picked them off one by one as the Panthers went up and down the field. This is a game we will have to forget in a hurry said coach Gruden. We cant get down on ourselves it was just one game we have to go back to the drawing board and start over we have 15 games left to prepare and the game next week is the most important game we to put this game behind and get ready for next Sunday. Next Sunday will be a big game as the Raiders have the home opener on NBC Sunday Night football against Drew Brees and the high powered New Orleans Saints.20200904_024906.jpeg20200904_025059.jpeg

Re: A New Era In Raiders Football

Year 1 Week 2 Home Opener

Las Vegas Raiders 16 New Orleans Saints 27

The Las Vegas Raiders fell short of a victory in their home opener vs the Saints by the final score of 27-16. The Raiders had several opportunities to pull out a victory but could not get over the hump missed opportunities and costly mistakes hurt the Raiders. Daniel Carlson missed a extra point as well as a field goal Derek Carr threw 2 interceptions in which one was brought back for a TD and Rookie Receiver Bryan Edwards dropped several passes. Derek Carr had his worst game so far by going 15-29 for 158 1 TD and 2 interceptions but Carr can't take all the blame as they were several Dropped passes. Josh Jacobs bounced back after last weeks lackluster performance rushing for 117 yards on 21 carries and a TD. The defense did everything they could do the keep the game close including sack Drew Brees 6 times and picking him off once Maurice Hurst led the defense with 2.5 sacks but it wasn't enough to slow down the Saints for the much need victory. Turnovers and missed opportunities we can't have turnovers if we want to win game and we have to capitalize on opportunities we they are given to us said coach Gruden. We will continue to fight and work hard because our schedule doesn't get any easier. And he is right the schedule doesn't get easier as the Raiders travel to Foxboro to take on Cam Newton and the Patriots.20200905_025108.jpeg20200905_024926.jpeg20200905_025304.jpeg20200905_025207.jpeg
