Franchise: SP Without Full Energy for Next Start

I'm playing on HOF with A&S sliders and I've had an issue where a SP would get to his next start and not begin with a full bar of energy. The first time I noticed it was with Nick Martinez, who has a low stamina rating. He was beginning games without full energy and making to where he could only pitch 3 innings. I increased both HUM and CPU starter stamina to 6 and that seemed to fix the issue for the next few games.

However, I just played a game where Brady Singer began a game with some energy missing and I've looked at the next game and Nick Martinez will clearly be missing a full bar before the game begins.

Is anyone else seeing this in franchise? Is this normal and simply cumulative fatigue as the season plays out? I notice that CPU pitchers seem to always have a full energy bar to begin each game, so it makes me wonder. Is there another setting other than stamina coming in to play here? I hate beginning games with that starter missing energy.

Yes it’s normal and has been in the game for awhile. Essentially you are pitching your starters too long in the previous start so they aren’t fully rested the next start. The stamina bar shouldn’t really drop to yellow in game otherwise you risk having a slightly tired starter in his next outing (unless there is a day off).

What is his stamina number? What is his durability number? How many pitches did the throw in his previous start?

Durability determines how fast recovers from previous start. Keep an eye on the stamina during a game and look at the schedule to see whether you have an off day prior to his next start. If you have a scheduled off day he can go deeper into his stamina number and be at 100% energy due to the extra day.

In case you don't already know when a pitchers stamina reaches 25% an attribute penalty which gets progressively worse as his stamina declines.

Raise stamina attributes to 90 for the SP so they can reach 80-100 in a game without being completely useless the next start. It's what we've done and the gameplay is so much better for it imo. The only thing with doing this is you have to raise hook to 7 and drop stamina slider to 5 for simulated games in order to get realistic amount of CGs. Had 17 CG the one year I simulated with this setup and all SP at 90 stamina.

I'm someone who hates feeling like I cheated the game, but raising some CPU pitchers stamina doesn't feel like cheating or anything like that. So I would have no problem just bumping up some player's stamina. That's what I would do in this case.

It's cheating. You like his h/9 k/9 bb/9 and you don't like his stamina.

3 for 1 trades is also cheating.

It's a video game dude, so bumping up some stamina for a guy that the developers probably had incorrect when the roster was released isn't too bad on the cheating scale.

Some examples of recent multi player trades for one player, or one player and a throw in player.

Rockies trade Nolan Arenado to Cardinals for Austin Gomber, Elehuris Montero, Tony Locey, Mateo Gil and Jake Sommers

Padres trade Juan Soto and Trent Grisham to the Yankees for Michael King, Drew Thorpe, Jhony Brito, Randy Vásquez, and Kyle Higashioka

Cubs trade Yu Darvish and Victor Caratini to Padres for Owen Caissie, Ismael Mena, Reginald Preciado, Yeison Santana and Zach Davies

Rays trade Blake Snell to Padres for Luis Patiño, Cole Wilcox, Blake Hunt and Francisco Mejía

The /9 ratings are for simulated stats only though. Those don't do anything for in game as far as I know. The control, velocity, and break are what matters inside a game. As long as you're not editing those I wouldn't consider it cheating. And raising stamina for (Nick Martinez )a SP that real life averages 93 pitches per start for his career certainly isn't cheating when live roster his stamina is below 70 if I remember correctly.

Edit: live roster has his stamina at 60. That is horrible and so unrealistic. SDS is saying he can't pitch past 70 without being dead tired is pretty crazy lol

This is slightly false. The /9 stats do impact the hitters PCI, specifically H/9. That’s why you’ll notice your PCI for the same player is different sizes depending on who is pitching, which is what makes top pitchers tougher to face. I want to say the HR/9 and BB/9 impact something as well but can’t remember what exactly.

As for stat changes being cheating…

This has to be a bit at this point. I appreciate you keeping it up though.

In other editions training would also sometimes cuase a player to not have full energy bars when starting a game, despite it being full prior. if i remember right it may have been addressed by sds though in a prior edition

That does make sense. I use timing hitting so I never see my PCI to notice the change. Thank you for explaining that. Good to know!

I understand people do it which is why the developers never take the time to fix it but it's still cheating.

People don't complain because they intend to cheat anyway.
