I'm excited to get past next Tuesday. My guess is after the PS3 version launches, we begin to see more of the PS4 "good stuff".

For some reason I got a feeling that the PS4 info WONT come out until a week after the PS3 launches at least. For the same marketing reasons they're holding off PS4 info until the PS3 launches, is why I imagine PS4 info won't release until a week afterwards.

This may have been asked, but are there any franchise logic variations between PS4 and PS3/Vita. I'm guessing not since all of the franchise files are interchangeable, but I'm wondering if they are utilizing the higher processing power of the PS4 for more realistic trade logic, FA logic, etc.

I know lineup logic was on the spec sheet.

The trade logic and FA logic is different Online than Offline on the PS4. According to the fact sheet the logic is better Online.

Refined player generation, with more position-specific attribute ranges (Online Franchise)
New contract decision logic, which factors in contract renewable and arbitration status more heavily (Online Franchise)
New lineup logic that takes into account secondary positions (Online Franchise)
Refined trade logic (Online Franchise)
Retired players stored for every season (Online Franchise)
More player stats stored for every season (Online Franchise)

I'm guessing you're right, but I really don't agree with the strategy. I don't see how just giving us screens/video of the PS4 version will cannibalize sales of the PS3 version, and in the instances where it did, it would be a good thing.



My logic, as follows:

- Obviously anybody who only owns a PS4, will be buying the PS4 version. Withholding videos and screens will not change that.

- Anybody who owns both a PS3 and a PS4, there is a 99% chance they will only buy the PS4 version. Withholding screens will not change that. I'm sure they're concerned with trying to convince people to buy both versions, but that's really only going to happen with a very very small percentage of customers (some of the OS faithful), most people will not pay $60 for a game twice, no matter how good it looks, and when the release dates are a month apart.


- People who only own a PS3 with no intentions to upgrade this year or no disposable income to buy a PS4 even if they wanted to, are going to buy the PS3 version. Nothing will change that. No matter how good the PS4 game looks, some people just can't swing it financially, or are stubborn and never like to be early adopters of consoles. I see several of these people on OS lol.


- Now here's the interesting part. You've got a) people who own a PS3 and are tempted to upgrade or b) people who don't own either Sony console, and may be tempted to purchase one for The Show. In the case of a: Wouldn't showing off the PS4 and convincing them to buy a system to play this game be a GOOD thing? You lose a sale of a PS3 game, but gain a sale of a PS4 system and game? And in the case of b, same thing. Wouldn't you rather a new Sony customer invest in a brand new $400 PS4 and a $60 copy of the show than have them go on craigslist and buy a used PS3 for $150 that Sony doesn't see a dollar from, and then buy a copy of the PS3 game? Wooo, you sold a copy! lol. But ultimately the customer did not make the decision that would have netted Sony the most income both now and in the future.




You've got a huge install base of PS3 owners, many of whom won't be upgrading this year, so you're going to get your sales there. But the people who are undecided, I would think you'd want to sell them hard on the PS4 version as early as possible.








Then again, all of this could be moot, and maybe we just aren't seeing videos because they aren't ready yet, lol.

I just don't see the logic in drawing any attention away from the PS3 release. They see the numbers, they know what they are likely to sell on each platform. If you look at other cross-gen games (sports games even) the last gen versions sell much better than current gen ones. You are throwing numbers out like 99% that have no factual basis. There are likely many people buying both versions of the game, a higher % on OS of course, but 1%? SDS will see a chunk of how many did so when they get numbers on how many people transfered a save from PS3 to PS4 this year. Are they trying to persuade people to buy both versions, probably not, but they sure won't mind it.

The other issue is that the PS4 is selling out, Sony does not need any help to sell the PS4. People are upgrading under their own free will. The Show will sell on whatever supply of units Sony can put out there. The PS4 won't gain any sales from the release or advertisement of The Show unless supply dramatically skyrockets in April.

I know everyone is itching to see some PS4 footage and info. This was discussed in the PS3 forum on the release trailer.

Hey SONY will you please stop releasing PS3 trailers and footage of MLB 14 The Show that nobody cares about.

It looks exactly like last years version and I'm tired of seeing it over and over again. I pray to god that you're done with it at this point and ready to move on to the PS4 stuff.

Which I and the rest of the world have been waiting to see for the past several months, so get a move on!

They have a budget for everything, spending money pushing the PS4 version now means less for the PS3 version.

They'll get around to the PS4 version, but right now they want people's attention on the PS3 release.

I never claimed the PS4 version would cannibalize the PS3 version because it won't, the release over a month apart.

If any one thing cannibalizes another thing, it'll be the Sounds of the Show eating the PS4. I still have both the PS3 and 4, and I briefly considered getting just the PS3 Show, but I quickly came to my senses and went back to my original intention of buying the 3, the 4 and the Vita Show.

Well if you're going off of screenshots, the Yankees fan was wearing a Stars and Stripes cap could be a good indication that there is, but who knows? it's all speculation at this point.
