Re: PS4 Discussion (MLB The Show 14)

I'd like to see more control and customization available for your RTTS player.

    * Fully Customizable Batting Stance: Placement of Hands/Arms/Feet/Posture, Timing Mechanisms like bat waggle/toe tap, Customizable Stride Speed (I do like that they gave us more options this year, but I want full customization.)

I'd also like to see more control over how your player moves in and out of the hitters box, I absolutely hate that after fouling off a pitch or a ball nearly hits you it quick cuts to you back in the box already set and the pitcher throws 2 seconds later. You get no time to back out of the box and think.

They could easily implement something where after every pitch your player will back out of the box and you could hold away on the analog stick to stay out of the box or after a pitch move the stick left to back out and then right to move back into the box when you are ready ( maybe have a customizable animation for what you could be doing like some practice swings)

Obviously there would be a time limit to how long you could stay out so it wouldn't become annoying to the opposing player, or it could be an option to turn on or off.

Also undo everything that was done to hitting after 12 while retaining the new ball physics.

I need the abilty to customize leagues.
Drop Colorado, Miami, Tampa & Arizona.
Move the Brewers to the A.L.
Move the Astros to the N.L.
Then I can replay the 1981 season correctly .
I can live with the Expos playin' in D.C.

Re: PS4 Discussion (MLB The Show 14)

They took a very smooth, but huge leap with catcher to pitcher animations being more connected and natural. Pitchers in older MLB games would throw a pitch, then stick their glove out and leave it in one spot and the catcher would return the ball by throwing it directly into the glove. It always distracted me. Then starting in around MLB 11 or so they made the pitcher move his arm in time with the catcher's return throw to catch the ball. Sure, it was always the same animation for each individual pitching animation, but there you go. I'd just like to see more things like that but all over.

Then they stepped it up by adding presentation upgrades, where they cut in scripted cut scenes that correspond to the change in camera angles to add even more variety. Be nice to see that kinda variety happen in real time as well going forward.

A better running animation for faster players. It just doesn't look right for a 6'5" slow footed pitcher to run the same way Michael Bourn or Mike Trout do. Just with the animation happening quicker.

And I imagine one of the reasons for there being All-Star uniforms and not just each player wearing their own team unis like IRL is because of processing power, having to load different uniforms for each player and all that is hard to program without causing issues, I imagine. Hopefully better hardware can facilitate something that won't bog down the system, if that's what the reason is. I don't really know.

AND maybe we can player's have more hand to bat and glove articulation and not have these robot wrists that bend at crazy angles.

Re: PS4 Discussion (MLB The Show 14)

There's a world of ideas to have about what MLB 14' The Show on the PS4 version could do. Dynamic weather is one I'm wondering about. It's good that they have been made well aware over the last couple years that we want weather to affect the game more, including the ability to cause double headers.

The perfect solution for me is to have a dynamic weather generator that can span united states. But if that's not possible, we can at least feature this idea:

Similar to what you can get in Formula1: 2012. We can have the ability for various different weather during games. We can have 15-20 minute stretches of cloudy overcast, to drizzle, or any dynamic weather situations. In Formula 1 these forecast just affect one weekend at a time. They also give percentages for chances of rain, yet that does not guarantee a presence of rain during the race event. And even can change over the weekend. I believe something along this line is possible for the PS4 to introduce and they may be getting this ready for us in MLB 14. I believe this is something they know we have desperately wanted.

I think wind patterns is another important addition that needs to be implemented as well. Realistic wind patterns and behaviour should be something we expect from MLB 14, as well.

One of the other things i want is something that has been missing since the early days of madden on the sega genesis. In game and post game highlights from other games in the league. With the new wildcard format, if you are in a race in your division and its august how cool would it be for the announcer to update you during your game. Example
-You are the Orioles. You are 2 games back in the division
-The Rays are in first and you are tied with the Yankees for wild card
-in between innings the announcer goes, "looks like we have an update from new york"
-Cut to the new york game
-"This 2 run home run has put the Yankees in the lead. This game has playoff implications, so we will keep you up to date all game long"
            -Cut back to your game.
Those types of things are next gen to me, and would do wonders to help the presentation.

Re: PS4 Discussion (MLB The Show 14)

a few things for me this game MUST have:

-the domed/open versions of stadiums with retractable roofs

-Also, I want to be able to edit existing players appearances. If a player grows out a beard during the season, I want to be able to edit that. If a team grows beards for the playoffs, I want to be able to do that.

-Also, there's no reaosn players shouldn't look EXACTLY like their real life counterpart. Even EAs Gameface technology allows you look very close to the real you. With all the headshots/pictures of MLB players, this should be possible at this point.

              - new commentary/presentation

I'm a bigger football, basketball fan than baseball, BUT I feel baseball games have the much greater upside and the ability to set the standard for sports games. The Show on PS3 has currently done that to a degree, but another notch would be amazing.

I like the idea of expansion and moving teams to other cities. Another thing I would love is to have some sort of daily or weekly highligh show. Would be great to have in game breaks to go to other games in progress to show big moments as well. Hope this would be possible in the PS4.

One thing the PS3 introduced in some games over the years, it'd be a dream to see in MLB the Show. An expansion of player fatigue, carrying over into player health over the course of the season. In NHL 13 and NBA 2K a player can carry on soreness, and small injuries etcetra, into the games they play. And those conditions have a small affect on player ratings and as manager you can choose how you want to handle the situation. NBA 2K also has some feedback abilities where the player can hint that he needs some help with his condition. Would be awesome to see that in a baseball game for obvious reasons.

If MLB 14 has the perfect storm of player impact & collisions coupled with good execution of this feature, it could bring me to tears.. Just another thing to ask for

I would love to see all time leaders for each team and a top ten of the Major League records that you can see your own person in RttS. And also in franchise mode. Expansion would also be great and a chance to realign the divisions with the two new expansion teams.

This is an AWESOME idea. I remember one of the NHL games had this too (I think it was '95). I don't know why they could do it then but never after for any other sports game.

The thing for me will be all about animation. I fully expect SCEA to go crazy with the type of throws, movements of players...And maybe a user catching feature(press R2 to close glove at perfect time)

Like what was said above, just more user control, while giving us even better animations. It seems like it has to be one or the other, but I don't think it has to be like it.

I think the biggest differences we see are going to be in Franchise mode, and in the presentation. For starters, I'd like to see:

                                - More back and forth trading. Maybe even use 2K's trade finder mode. I'd like to see offers, counter-offers, and some kind of give and take.

                                - A trade deadline special. An overall increase in trades and offers + some kind of ticker the last few days and maybe have the trades happen dynamically. If the CPU makes a big trade, have it pop on the screen with the details.

                                - Better trade logic. Some guys like Stephen Strasburg shouldn't even thought to be dealt unless the package for him is huge, and he is coming up on a contract season. I want to see a more defined buyers/sellers/standing pat list.

                                - Maybe a dynamic FA week. One of the best times in baseball is the winter meetings, so maybe do it then?

                                - A more dynamic atmosphere. The Show was one of the pioneers in having a dynamic atmosphere, but it's grown a little stale over the years. There should be fans coming and going, waves, chants, etc. If my team is well below .500, I don't want to see sell outs.

                                - More advanced stats. I'd love to see WAR, BABIP for pitchers and hitters, UzR, FIP, xFIP, K%, BB%, LD%, etc.

                                - Dynamic ratings. I'd love to see ratings that are less set in stone, so it's more about a players performance than it is about their exact ratings. Maybe something like NCAA's scouting system, where the rating is kind of an estimate.

                                - More in depth control of your minor league system.
