Re: PS4 Discussion (MLB The Show 14)
I was under the impression online franchise wasnt doable on ps3 with minor league rosters so what has changed or nothing and we will get progression/regression only?

Re: PS4 Discussion (MLB The Show 14)
I won't bombard this PS3 thread for the game with this, but I did want to bring it up here since I know it's a popular topic for discussion.
I'll be pretty disappointed if the PS4 has the same feature set as the PS3. I love The Show to death, but the series could use some change. Above all else, I want it to feel differently than the PS3 version, and if it's just graphics that are getting an upgrade, then it's not going to feel any different. I'm sure the game will be good one way or the other, but I'd be lying if I said that it wouldn't be a huge missed opportunity for SCEA to take a big step forward with the PS4.
Still, I'm going to assume for now that by "feature list" Russell meant things like Road to the Show, Franchise, and Online Franchise would make it to both systems. I just hope that the PS4 doesn't play like the PS3 version, but I know there are different opinions on this so I'll leave it at that.
How does everyone else feel?
I'm really hoping for playable High Single A teams & a 15 man roster on Low Single A, in effect a jump from 90 man rosters to 115 man rosters.Comment

But like Ramone said in the video teaser for '14, the PS4 has allowed them to do things in the game that they were never able to do with the PS3, so I think even though it's pure speculation up to this point, we'll all be pleasantly surprised. I'm stoked for either or.Comment

Re: PS4 Discussion (MLB The Show 14)
The thing is if they make single A games playable the expectation would be that RTTS players could start in single A. I wonder if they'd make that an option, to start at AA with more points to allocate or single A with less points to use up front. Or the same, just making it harder to start at single A.Comment

Re: PS4 Discussion (MLB The Show 14)
This is the first year on the new console so I am not expecting anything too much different than the CG game save a jump in graphics. I like the way The Show plays on the PS3 and I don't know what the devs can do to make the game play differently on the new console. After all it is a baseball game and all they can do is try to replicate the game of baseball.
Better animations crowds more realistic stances swings and deliveries is about all you can ever expect to get out of any baseball game. They can't reinvent the wheel.Comment

Re: PS4 Discussion (MLB The Show 14)
I agree. Not much can be changed in terms of actual gameplay, with the exceptions of changes made to further update ball physics, or new ways to pitch (ala 2k).
Biggest things I am hoping for on PS4 are increased presentation (more STATS) and a more interactive RTTS mode. And updated graphics, but I think that was a given."What is one of your favorite hobbies?

Re: PS4 Discussion (MLB The Show 14)
I agree they can't (and shouldn't) reinvent the wheel.
I do, however, think it's important that there be: a wider array of animations, better AI, more dynamic commentary, better looking crowds, etc. Those are all things that are more possible with the PS4 hardware than the PS3 hardware.
I'm entirely confident SCEA can/will do those things, but they've stated that the PS3 game is pretty much capped out. I don't think it's unreasonable to worry that they also have said that the PS4 version will be more or less the same game.
This isn't just a question I've taken with SCEA, it's one that I've taken with other developers as well. When you are cross-platforming, it's a given that you aren't developing to the consoles' full potential unless you start the code from scratch. So games like Dragon Age, Assassins Creed, etc. aren't going to be much different from their CG versions. Which is fine for those games who haven't been releasing on an annual basis. But I've been playing The Show for a solid six years plus, and one of the biggest reasons I wanted and purchased a PS4 is because I'm hoping for a change in the series, however small it may be.
I get what everyone is saying and I'm on board with it. This isn't me saying the PS3 version of the game is bad, or that I want a drastic upgrade. I just want it to feel different, and my guess is that it will.Writer for Operation Sports

Re: PS4 Discussion (MLB The Show 14)
If we could just have some more A level teams, even if they're fake that would be fantastic. Last year was my first time working on OSFM, so it would be great if there were at least more roster spots open in the minors. Even if they just allowed a bunch more to be put in the single A category that would help.
The thing is if they make single A games playable the expectation would be that RTTS players could start in single A. Re: PS4 Discussion (MLB The Show 14)
As many others have stated. I believe they are waiting for the Superbowl to wrap up, so that they will have the spotlight on them.
It is a smart move PR move. If they don't release any information by next Tuesday, then and only then would I be worried and/or upset.

Re: PS4 Discussion (MLB The Show 14)
Its hard to know for sure, since in prior years SCEA released information for the game earlier in the year, but this year is a bit different. What with the lack of competition in the baseball market and the jump to a new console. Sony knows they have a winner in this developer and I believe they will either have a mind-blowing advertisement during the Superbowl or will provide info soon after.
Don't get me wrong though. Like you, I'm antsy.."What is one of your favorite hobbies?
