Re: PS4 Discussion (MLB The Show 14)
Yikes!!! Wish I had that much free time!
Let me just add this. I will bet that the PS3 absolutely dominates the sales on the Show in April and the PS4 will dominate the sales in May.
I don't think there's any doubt that they will focus on the ps4. But why wouldn't they make the ps3 "feature complete" for a few years while it still has a market?
Honestly I think we're going to see a lot of "PS4 only" features sooner than later, so the PS3 version might have feature parity in name only and the actual meat and potatoes will be different.
I love my PS3 and I plan on keeping it no matter what, but its hard not to notice that the market for it just suffered a massive heart attack when most thought it would die of old age. I'm just glad mine made it to the finish line (80 GB fatty), and I still plan on dusting it off once a while like I do with my PS2 (!)
Anyway, lets talk about the PS4 version!
I'm really excited to see the new animations, I'm hoping improvements were made to locomotion and weight distribution. At times the running motion looked roadrunner-esque, I'd like to see more of a gliding motion with long strides (especially in the outfield).
Edit: What Eman said lolBakin' soda, I got bakin' sodaComment

Re: PS4 Discussion (MLB The Show 14)
Highly doubt they are going to make the PS3 version a "roster update" anytime soon. Like I said man it's not going to happen for a few years. I know that's not what you want to hear. I can guarantee you MLB 15 is going to get the same amount of work as 14 on ALL platforms. I get what you're saying, but because you see the PS3 as dying console doesn't mean a development team at SCEA does.
It will still be great on the ps3 but if you think it will get equal treatment as the ps4 you are fooling yourself.Comment

Re: PS4 Discussion (MLB The Show 14)
Hmmm...I don't think anyone doubts that the ps4 will get the majority of the attention. I think that most of the improvements and attention will go into gameplay, graphics, and animations. But "features" will be in both versions for awhile. Game modes and franchise features etc.
I think the end all statements like the ps3 is "dead" and should be nothing more than a roster update is where the argument is to be made. I simply don't agree.Comment

Re: PS4 Discussion (MLB The Show 14)
I would think that the show will have at least the same lifespan on ps3 as it did on ps2. After all, wasn't the last ps2 game mlb 11 or 12?1458, not counting playoffs, that's the number of games in a row I haven't missed! Go Yanks!Comment

Re: PS4 Discussion (MLB The Show 14)
What new features do you think we might see on ps4 in the future?
I know i've seen some people say they want something like a create a team/stadium feature, i personally don't see that happening, so what else is there really?NFL : Atlanta Falcons
MLB : Toronto Blue Jays

Since we now have Online Franchise, how about an online RTTS?Comment

Re: PS4 Discussion (MLB The Show 14)
Yeah that's actually a pretty good idea,
A bunch of individual players in one big league, it'd actually mean a lot more when you win awards and championships in RTTS because you'll be competing against actual people and friends as wellNFL : Atlanta Falcons
MLB : Toronto Blue Jays

Also, the chance that people end up on the same team, though I'm sure they would allow an option to make this impossible.Comment

Yeah, it comes with a problem though (other than just getting people to play). If someone makes a pitcher, goes against another player (who is an everyday player) how do the two match up when they play each other as far as situations and simming?
Also, the chance that people end up on the same team, though I'm sure they would allow an option to make this impossible.
And I guess it'd have to be made sure that people don't end up on the same team.NFL : Atlanta Falcons

Re: PS4 Discussion (MLB The Show 14)
It's funny to see people argue over something they clearly do not understand. It's not even the SCEA dev team's decision whether they (and how much they) work on the PS3 version or not. That's the decision of financial officers, managerial accountants and other similar people that are far removed from the development of any video game.
Just the same, that decision comes 100% from the data in front of them. No one goes, "well I really like the PS3," or "eh the PS3 sucks anyway let's ditch it".
If the amount of attention given to the PS3's version of The Show is increased or decreased, it will only be a direct result of the current-day profits from sales of the PS3 console and from sales of the PS3-version of MLB The Show. There's really no "thinking" going on. Either it is profitable to continue to develop a PS3 game, or it isn't.
And it will change. This data is reviewed every single year.Last edited by Bobhead; 02-15-2014, 08:44 PM.Comment

So true. They always know more than everyone else, even when their "knowledge" is based on nothing.Comment
