But there is no point in really getting into this, it's been discussed heavily before, and i don't see it coming to a compromise
Here's how it works - if you want your company to stay in business, you need to make more in revenue than what's going out. In order to do so, at the beginning of the year you create a budget that will reflect all costs - rent, licensing, salaries, insurance, etc. Based on this final budget, you have a certain amount of money that you can devote to various projects. Therefore, an increase in payments to licensing (for officially licensed gear) would mean a decrease somewhere else (perhaps one less developer). Someone, somewhere at SCEA feels that the money spent on creating MLB: The Show is better spent elsewhere than on officially licensed gear. That's it.

Now, to take this one step further - people ask all the time, "why isn't feature x in this year?!" The bottom line is - an estimate is made internally to determine the exact cost of adding feature x (development time, testing, fees associated, etc.) and then an estimate of the new revenue generated by adding this feature (e.g. is this feature going to pay for itself) and the decision is then made (simplifying here - you can't just add developers at will, they need to be hired, trained, etc.) whether to move forward with this feature or not.

It's always about money - and there's nothing accusatory about it. It just is.

Believe me I know all of that, I study commerce in university, but the fact remains that no one knows what the full reason is for the show not have brands and what not. Anything that anyone says is all hearsay, and I personally don't think it's the money. There is no logical reasoning to say that the money is the biggest problem or lone problem.

All this talk about getting brands in the game. If cost is an issue, and even if it isn't, its probably more efficient and cost-effective to just create some more varieties of fake gear. Make up fake names for brands if you want, but in the end I don't really care about seeing real brands in the game. I do care about seeing more variety and customization though.

I agree. Name brands are the best, but if you cant do them, where are the generic options. ZERO fielding gloves have been added since I started playing this game in 09. not all guys wear the same gloves.

For the PS4 I'm hoping they at least bring back all of the old shoe and batting glove styles.

I wish they make the shoes fully editable. For instance the Cards, Phillies and teams with the main color not being black. Also bring back the original generic 1 shoe from the Show 12' and prior. I would use that as my "Nike" shoe. LOL.

So bottom line I am good with the Show brand gear...

At this point, brands or not, my only hope for gear is that they updated the catcher's equipment. It appears to still be the same for current gen, but I'm hoping this falls under "graphical fidelity" and is updated for PS4.

I'm hoping they gave us the option to pick which style of webbing for the gloves instead of just one type for infielders/outfielders.

So how can there be Nike undershirts, but no shoes?

This is the MOST important thing for the game accessories wise (with the assumption there wont be licensed gear). 5 years and not a single glove style added is pretty sad.

unfortunately I dont think we will see that for a while. it would require them to make the jersey a separate piece from the undershirt.

I don't think that should be a problem for a next gen game though

What I am getting at is there are a lot of things that shouldnt be a problem for next gen that we aren't getting.

As I said before in another thread other than Beards/hair I think all the gear has to be the same on both formats ps3/ps4 or it would cause roster share issues and corruption .

I base this off of the PS3 version being a port to the ps4 at least with gear and player models , it would have to be the same accept for more definition for the ps4 as the ps3 has been maxed out graphically for a while now. .
