Re: MLB 14 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
I am playing the Cardinals with the first live update roster. Got a lot of talent to work with (and even more once the OSFM gets published).
Wong (B) could very well develop into a good player but I want a bit more talent now. Got about 10 mil in the budget. I know I could put in Ellis but he is 36 and I'd rather use him as a platoon guy to give off days to starters.
Who can I target to be a nice upgrade at 2b? I could potentially move Carpenter to 2b and get someone at 3b also. So a bit of flexibility to improve my roster.
I don't really have a big need for Motte or Garcia, so those are two I would love to move first. But if you guys see any other guys I could part with, I'm more than happy to listen.
Thanks for the help. Can't wait till OSFM!Comment

Re: MLB 14 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
With the Cubs I was able to pull off the following deals after the roster update, I'm just playing around until OSFM comes out:
- Olt+Barney for Jason Heyward
- Wellington Castillo+2 minor league scrubs, can't remember who exactly for Matt Harvey ?!?!?!
- The Marlins gave away Christian Yelich for basically nothing, a closer prospect who was like 50 overall, because it helped their "rebuilding effort" ?!?!
- After the season started the Cardinals put Shelby Miller on the trade block, I was able to pick him up by trading away Junior Lake and some other minor leaguers
- I got Jurickson Profar for Travis Wood, Anthony Rizzo, and one B prospect <20 years old that I had to trade other minor leaguers to obtain to be able to make the deal
- Got Eric Hosmer for Samardzija, since Rizzo was gone
Starting lineup:
C - Sonny Ponce (sp?)
1B - Hosmer
2B - Profar
SS - Castro
3B - Angel Ibarra
LF - Christian Yelich
CF - Jason Heyward
RF - Brennan Boesch (FA signing)
Looking a lot better for the future with Hosmer, Profar, Castro, Yelich, and Howard all with A potential and there to stay.
Starting rotation:
Matt Harvey
Shelby Miller
SP3-SP5 - ugh
Still, at least the rotation has two young starters of good quality.
Thoughts? I think the Harvey and Yelich trades are ridiculous, but I think the Jurickson Profar trade I might have given up a little too much.Comment

Re: MLB 14 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
Sidenote to that long post above: none of that will be necessary after the OFSM, except maybe trading veterans for pitching prospects, as I'll be developing Rizzo, Baez, Castro, Bryant, Soler, Almora, Alcantara, and CJ Edwards. This was just a case study, don't kill me.Comment

Re: MLB 14 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
Hey guys!
I'm doing a franchise (using the full Pirates minors rosters) with the Pirates and need some help! It's mid-July and Neil Walker hurt his knee and went on the 60 day DL. I have Alen Hanson in AA but in the name of realism won't give him the call to the majors. I have slotted Jordy Mercer over to second base but don't want to have to roll with Barmes as my everyday shortstop (my Pirates are in contention and ready to push for the division only 2 games back of the Cards.) Who are some 1-2 year guys I could target for middle infield until the end of this year or even until Hanson is ready in (hopefully) 2 years and what would it take to get them?
I was looking at Gregorious and Cabrera because both the Indians and D-Backs are out of contention. Any thoughts on realistic packages?
I picked up a pretty good shortstop prospect in the draft and will move Hanson to second base and let Walker walk once he's eligible in 2 years. So this is strictly a rental move.Comment

Re: MLB 14 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
A-Cab is .282 with 9 homers and 8 steals and 9 errors (41-51)
Didi is .263 with 5 homers and 2 steals and 3 errors (46-46 6 games out of wild card)
I personally would like the offense of A-Cab but I also think Didi would be a better fit and cost us less. Either could hold us over well.Comment

Re: MLB 14 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
I consider it to be somewhat of a toss up and you win if you feel that the trade fills a need for you. The Phillies could sure use an extra arm and Kelly would slot in nicely. Can you replace Dom Brown's production in the lineup with someone else? Galvis carries some to none value but could easily be replaced from within with Cesar Hernandez or Kevin Frandsen
Doesnt really matter at this point anyway because even i wanted Kelly, barring a league no vote, he'll be in possession of the O's in about 3 hours. So considering the trade i was offered would probably no longer work anyway (though cpu trade logic sucks so maybe). Anyone you guys would suggest for me to go after? (teams taken in my league are Yankee's, Blue Jay, Rays, Marlins, Cardinals with the last 2 being the ones dismantling and rebuilding their teams).Comment

Are you looking for young pitching? Shelby Miller, Lance Lynn, Nathan Eovaldi, Drew Hutchison, and Marcus Stroman I guess."Twelve at-bats is a pretty decent sample size." - Eric ByrnesComment

Re: MLB 14 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
I'll second Shelby Miller, he's been great in mine when I've played with him, up to 88ovr after one seasonComment
