Re: MLB 14 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
Apologies for the double post but I'd actually like to ask something now lol.
What kind of piece do you guys think I can get for Colby Rasmus? I'm tearing down the Jays, trading most main pieces but Edwin, Lawlrie and Melkman. I have other trades lined up that I'm confident in but I'm not sure what Rasmus' value is on the open market or who would be interested. I don't really care what kind of prospect I get in return. Preferably not an MLB pitcher, but someone in AA/AAA wouldn't be the worst. Probably not a 2B/3B/SS. But aside from MIF/3B, I'm flexible. I know the Mariners would love Colby but I'm not sure who else."Twelve at-bats is a pretty decent sample size." - Eric ByrnesComment

Rasmus is tough for me. He is pretty much a rental player but someone could easily sign him long-term. I think it depends on if his power numbers are still there and if he can actually steal some bases. But I would say preseason value would be like a low/mid B-ish.

Blue Jays acquire: J.P. Crawford; Roman Quinn
Phillies acquire: Colby Rasmus
This one breaks my no-MIF rule but Crawford is far away enough that it doesn't matter as one of my MIF will be gone by then, and I have a huge thing for Crawford as a prospect. I'd also get a speedy OF in Quinn who has use. But I don't know if I should even go for a MIF, so I dunno on this one.
Blue Jays acquire: Yordano Ventura
Kansas City Royals acquire: Colby Rasmus
Lorenzo Cain and Jarrod Dyson isn't really something you can depend on. I don't know how highly valued Ventura is in game but concerns over his frame could let this happen, I dunno. It breaks my young SP rule too (I'm so self-disciplined) but I'd probably be able to clear room.
Blue Jays acquire: Tony Cingrani; Todd Frazier
Reds acquire: Colby Rasmus; Casey Janssen
Again breaking my guideline, god, but I LOVE Cingrani and I'm planning on doing Janssen/Frazier regardless. It's fair but kinda meh.
Dodgers acquire: Nick Franklin
Mariners acquire: Colby Rasmus; J.A. Happ
Blue Jays acquire: Joc Pederson
Probably my favorite, although I won't profess to coming up with it, a friend did. Mariners get SP depth in Happ and a great CF who can actually play the position and give up a prospect they need to move. Dodgers make a lateral move, acquiring a good INF who can play 2B, letting Guerrero play SS and Hanley play 3B. And I love Pederson and he would be a nice fit in CF for us in June.

I'm having quite a difficult time finding some fits for him. There are a good amount of teams I think would fit him, but some of them just don't have assets that interest me *cough* White Sox *cough*. I drew up a few potential deals:

My two favorite are the Reds and Dodgers, but I wouldn't know what LA would do with another OF. I'm assuming they trade Ethier and one of Kemp/Crawford. If they do that, then I could see them maybe doing this.
As for Philly, meh. I could see it if the Phils are competing, as they seem too stubborn to rebuild.
I don't see KC happening as Ventura is going to be a key cog in their rotation for years to come.
Hope I could help as I'm not the best just yet.

I could take on Ethier or send him to the M's, if it'd help. I could use a 4th OF or I could deal him."Twelve at-bats is a pretty decent sample size." - Eric ByrnesComment

Re: MLB 14 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
It's probably my favorite too. Ethier may not be starting quality outside of a platoon so they could just trade him off which I assume they will. Kemp LF Rasmus CF Puig RF Crawford 4OF is very solid, and all of those guys are going to miss time so they need to be deep. It's a pretty lateral change in terms of depth tbh, considering that Pederson is ready NOW and could play CF right now. It's just that Rasmus is better than him at the minute, but they have this depth problem regardless of the trade.

You make a good point. I'd say you could send Ethier wherever. Just add a little to the Dodgers from whoever gets him.

I really like the Royals fit. Win now team, abundance of prospects, need a CF. I feel like Dozier wouldnt be a terrible fit. You might have to throw a piece there way. Ventura i think is a better fit as a closer (i know he is performing but he is so small and throws so hard that i think his shelf life will be relatively short) so if that interests you it could workComment

Re: MLB 14 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
See I think Ventura is going to stay a starter. He certainly would fit as a closer, but the Royals have Holland plus a couple other young bullpen arms that I can't see it happening. If he got moved, that's another story.

Re: MLB 14 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
Thanks for the input. I'll have to see how he's valued in game once I get it (Can May 6th just get here please?). Although with player potentials being editable I guess I can already answer that. I could do Zimmer instead though if anyone thinks it's too much. Zimmer would certainly work and he'd be a very good fit.Comment

Re: MLB 14 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
I could definitely see the Phillies being a potential suitor for Rasmus (and Nick Franklin for that matter).
One could argue that either Asche or Franco would be available from the Phillies if they've decided who their starter is for the upcoming years.
I don't see the Phillies trading JP Crawford unless they get another SS in return to replace Rollins (Franklin comes to mind).
Maybe strike some sort of 3-way deal where either the Phillies gets both Rasmus and Franklin or a scenario where the Mariners get Rasmus and the Phillies get FranklinFormer modder of "Ultimate Rosters" for MVP Baseball 2005.

Ventura > Zimmer imo. Hence I proposed it as a downgrade of sorts.

Re: MLB 14 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
Hello all, first time to this thread. Looks fantastic.
I am with the Cubs for MLB14 (Just like every year, you can find my Franchise thread at Theshownation.com haha)
I`m wondering, who do you guys think I could get with Arismendy Alcantara (A POT second baseman), and Dan Vogelbach (Near-A POT First baseman)?
I would not be looking for an older veteran like say, Jered Weaver. I`m just wondering if there is any younger pitching out there that I could look for come July. Any thoughts?Comment
