I'm not entirely sure how to use the spreadsheet to calculate whether a trade is fair or not.

Also, I'm ready to deal Darwin Barney. I don't really care what I get in return but can anyone give me some advice as to who might need a great fielding second baseman who can't hit?

A great fielding second baseman who can't hit sounds like a good option for a contending team. Late inning sub to help save some runs.

Question is, what teams are in contention and could use Barney? Dodgers? Yankees? Orioles?

I'm about at the All-Star break in 2014 so it's still a bit early, but I'd basically deal Barney to any team that would give me a B level prospect in return.

That's not necessarily early to trade him by the ASB is it?

Either way, you won't be able to haul in a B prospect for him even if he's hitting .300+. You're looking at a High C at best, probably not more than a mid C.

So a few pages back i said i wanted to start trading away big contract players on the Philles at the asb since there so far behind . The Rangers are at the top of the divison along with the Angels and both teams can use Cliff Lee or AJ Burnett (who has about the same stats as Lee) in there rotation.

Based on their current farm systems, the Rangers could land Lee and the Angels can afford Burnett.

As for Burnett, I'd aim for RJ Alvarez (CP) or Alex Yarbrough (2B) in return.

Sweet thanks . I wouldnt trade Rollis or Utley unless it happens IRL . But ill see who else they can trade because in my franchise they dont have any 1st base depth and i feel like Ryan Howards time in Philly is coming to an end

How do you use the spreadsheet to calculate whether a trade is realistic or not?

You compare the values listed of the players you want to acquire to those you want to trade away. Try and find a match.

Do you guys let the CPU offer trades to you and the other CPU teams and then accept, reject or propose a new one? Also do you guys turn trades off until closer to July so you don't have to check transactions daily?

I leave it on and check daily . I like to see the crazy trades the cpu comes up with

I keep it on all the time and check it daily. I mainly play commish and veto deals. If the CPU is trying to make something happen (CPU vs CPU) that's a bit lopsided but that there's an obvious need, I try and edit the deal to make it fair before letting it go through.
