Re: MLB 14 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread

What could the Red Sox get for Shane Victorino? He's really struggled this season, hitting .238 with 6 home runs and 19 runs batted in.

After making the real life trades, I have Cespedes, Bradley, and Craig as my starters, as Bradley has, or at least was hitting around .280 for the season. I also have Bryce Brentz who has been playing decent, hitting .253 with 3 home runs, though he'll head back to AAA for regular playing time.

I'm not looking for anything big, maybe a reliever or outfielder, and if it's an outfielder, I'd like him to have a nice set of wheels for pinch-running duties.

I can provide stats of specific teams outfielders if needed.

Send him to Seattle for Lord Farquhar and James Jones?

Milwaukee Receives: Mark Trumbo, Gerardo Parra

Arizona Receives: Jimmy Nelson, Mitch Haniger

Trumbo is having a very good season for the last place Diamondbacks, hitting .261 with 18 home runs, while Parra is hitting .279 with 7 home runs.

Haniger is hitting .237 with 7 home runs in 97 games with Milwaukee's AA affiliate, while Nelson is 3-1 with a 3.13 ERA in 6 starts with Milwaukee.

If you were the Brewers or Diamondbacks, would you do this trade?

I'm trying to use the real life trade as a way to improve both teams.

I feel like the Brewers have to give up something else. Problem is they don't have much that in the minors to part with. How about if you add Tyrone Taylor from MIL and add an additional RHP reliever going the other way (someone like Jimmy Sherfy)

I actually like that, but the Mariners already have a crowded outfield with Romero, Saunders, Chavez, Avery, Jackson, Morrison, Hart, Ackley, and Denorfia, and I want Victorino to get regular at-bats.

What about the Twins or Padres.

The Twins are well out of the playoff race, but the Padres only sit 1.5 games behind the Dodgers, and they just sent Maybin down because he was only hitting .213, so right now, they have Smith, Quentin, Venable, Fuentes, and Almonte (acquired from the Mariners), so they could use him in either center or right.

And speaking of Fuentes, I would be interested in him, if you think that would be a fair deal, given the fact he is still a prospect and used to be in the Red Sox organization before the A-Gon trade.

The Twins don't have much depth in the outfield, having traded Willingham and Fuld, so right now, their outfield is Wilkin Ramirez, Arcia, Hicks, and Corey Wimberly (called up).

If I went with the Twins, it probably only be for a reliever like Ryan Pressly or a starter like Sean Gilmartin, whom I've always kinda been high on.

            Ok, how about this...

Red Sox Receive: Reymond Fuentes, Devin Jones

            Padres Receive: Shane Victorino

Victorino goes to a playoff team while the Red Sox get a couple good prospects.

I wouldn't call those guys "good" in the context of trading Victorino

Well when he's only hitting .238, has a big contract, and is blocking better players, thats a decent return. I have Cespedes, Bradley, and Craig in the majors right now, plus I have Brentz who has played for me, plus Castillo and Betts, so Victorino is the odd man out.

Since the Padres are the best destination for him, what would be a good return in your eyes. Keep in mind, I am pretty well set at all positions.

A lot of Victorino's value comes from defense and speed. Send him to the Mets for Matz + Fulmer/Ynoa.

What would be a good trade for Trumbo to the Twins? The Twins really need some power, given their only power has been from Joe Mauer, Trevor Plouffe, and Oswaldo Arcia, and even then, Plouffe leads with 13.

Do they really need to make a win now move though? Plus Trumbo's only been in ARZ half a season.

Not really, and now that I think about it, theres no real motivation to make any deal involving Trumbo.

Wow. This is ridiculous now. I have never seen one person traded so many times in this game. I'm not using 30 team control so there is nothing I can do about it. Check out this timeline for poor Alexei Ramirez.

7/13 - White Sox acquire RP Carlos Martinez, SS Jhonny Peralta, & SP Marco Gonzales from the Cardinals for SS Alexei Ramirez

7/17 - Cardinals acquire SP Trey Ball & SS Xander Bogaerts from the Red Sox for SS Alexei Ramirez

7/25 - Red Sox acquire SP Braden Shipley from the Diamondbacks for SS Alexei Ramirez

7/28 - Diamondbacks acquire 3B D.J. Peterson from the Mariners for SS Alexei Ramirez

Are you kidding me? Traded to 4 different teams in a span of 15 days. Woooowwww.

Ok, I'm looking for a good eighth inning guy, and I've narrowed it down to...

                                Drew Storen (4-3, 2.57 ERA, 42.0 IP)
                                Jason Motte (2-3, 2 SV, 4.46 ERA, 42.1 IP)
                                Matt Belisle (3-2, 2.81 ERA, 51.1 IP)
                                J.P Howell (1-3, 2.61 ERA, 41.1 IP)
                                Santiago Casilla (4-1, 3.83 ERA, 51.2 IP)

What would be some trades that could net me one of these guys? I'm the Red Sox.
