Nope. They might as well stitch the 'C' on his jersey and get the outfield plaque ready for his number. I will quit watching baseball for an entire week if SF ever trades Posey.

Yes...and yet disagree with the case being made. Why would I trade my prime, controlled superstar/fan favorite for anything, ever?

We had a bad year or two, you don't trade the franchise when you can afford to pay him.

Because he's one of maybe 4-5 players above replacement level on your roster, one of probably two under 30, and by the time your team is rebuilt, he'll be a catcher on the other side of 30?

            Offseason heading into 2017

Dan Straily (83 OVR, 86 pot.) for Chris Archer (83 OVR, 85 pot.)

            Straily
            2014: 14-8, 3.25 ERA
            2015: 20-5, 2.79 ERA
            2016: 5-3, 3.36 ERA

            Archer:
            2014: 12-12, 4.05 ERA
            2015: 12-11, 3.86 ERA
            2016: 6-10, 2.52 ERA

Based purely on those stats alone, I wouldn't trade Straily for Archer if I was Oakland. If you're Oakland trying to trade him for Archer I guess it's fine, although it seems like a trade that doesn't benefit either team significantly.

How's Washington doing? Don't see Taylor being traded for prospect(s). More of a win now mode in DC with their strong rotation and crafty lineup. This is pure speculation off the top of my head but Taylor and Espinosa for Kinsler?
Washington is looking good pitching wise (Strasburg is 1st in the Cy Young race and Zimmerman is not far behind) and hitting wise they are decent. Denard Span is expiring after 2014, right? Washington might re-sign him.

As for Pittsburgh, their major league rotation will be already stacked in 2015 (Cole, Liriano, Taillon, Kingham, Locke) and Glasnow could be replacing Locke. Alhough he's the best out of him, Taillon and Kingham, I don't see Taillon or Kingham moving. Of course this is my logic, which is probably not even close.

                  Kind of a lateral move.

                    Awful deal for Detroit.

Depends on what numbers Kinsler has put up and if the Tigers want to shed salary to resign Scherzer.

What are you suggesting for Detroit to land Taylor?

In my offline 30-team Franchise, the CPU made a trade offer from Pittsburgh (47-48, 3-way Tie w/ Reds & Cubs) to Minnesota (48-47 5.5 GB): Joe Mauer (.337, .421, .536) for Taillon, Glasnow, and Gaby Sanchez. Pittsburgh has some significant injuries in the outfield to Marte and Gregory Polanco, while Edinson Volquez is on the DL for a few months with a separated shoulder.

Pitt's overpaying a little, and I have a hard time believing they'd trade Taillon, but Mauer's absolutely killing the ball right now and getting a franchise player has to cost something.

I'm tempted to play God and see if Minnesota would say yes to a different package. Maybe Glasnow, Austin Meadows, and... I dunno... some other middling piece.

Wound up acquiring Stanton, Eovaldi, and Dietrich for Altuve, Fowler, Feldman. Then I got Marp, CMart, and Aledmys Diaz from the Cardinals for Carlos Correa.
