Re: MLB 14 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
On the other hand, you have Freeman who is a young controllable superstar. When Atlanta signed him, they made it very clear that Freeman was going to succeed Chipper Jones as the face of the franchise. Freeman means much more to the Braves beyond his stats. Therefore, it makes little sense from a baseball standpoint and a franchise standpoint to trade Freeman.
I've heard that sound 3 times... once was Babe Ruth, the second was Josh Gibson, and the third was Bo Jackson- Buck O'Neil

Re: MLB 14 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
Guys, I am sorry I thought we were discussing the in game trades of your current franchise. In real life Freeman has a 150-185 million contract for the next 7 years. And He is my guy, but he is not proven capable of carrying a team on his back...
But in the Show his 8 year contract is very low in dollars per year. I am hoping that they change that real soon.Comment

That deal would actually benefit me too. I need a 1B because I need to replace Alonso, I have Rhymer Liriano/Hedges to fill Myers spot, and tons of pitching depth to replace Cashner. Keep in mind Wisler is at 95 potential now, Myers is 92, and Cashner is 93
Just an example, there are plenty of ways teams can acquire him.Last edited by 1andonly; 01-07-2015, 02:33 PM.Comment

I'm the Padres. You're telling me the Braves would not accept a deal for Wil Myers, Wisler and Cashner?

You should also throw in Renfroe and Lindsey. And maybe they would take it. Because as royals19 stated he is going to be the next face of the Braves. So a deal that could work in MLB 14/15 would be Myers, Renfroe, Lindsey, Cashner, Wisler for Freeman and a minor leaguer with little upside. That seems fair in my mind.
It's been said in this thread that I could get Sale for basically the same exact deal. Sale and Freeman are not equally hard to get.Last edited by 1andonly; 01-07-2015, 03:15 PM.Comment

come one. You can't be serious. If I offered them Cashner, Myers, Wisler, Renfroe and Lindsey they would jump on that in a heart beat. Not a "maybe."

You cannot compare those.
Stanton I could see being traded for the right deal. Fernandez as well if they got a good enough deal but it would be hard.Comment

Re: MLB 14 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
Freeman is nowhere even close to Jeter and Ortiz. Jeter and Ortiz are career legends. If you go up to a random person in New York and ask who Derek Jeter is they will know. If you do the same with Freeman in Atlanta, probably not.

OK I will give Ortiz and Jeter. And I doubt the Marlins screw up again and trade off the face of their franchise again, when the public is paying north of $2 BILLION for that stadium. Also Freeman and Jeter have comparable stats through their first 4 full seasons in baseball. I just wanted to point that one out to.Comment

Re: MLB 14 The Show Official Trade Discussion Thread
Freddie Freeman is 25 and one of the best hitters in the game. According to Fangraphs he's the 24th most valuable player in the game. If his contract is even smaller in The Show, there's no way his value isn't top 20 at worst. Only way I can see him being dealt is a massive overpay."Twelve at-bats is a pretty decent sample size." - Eric ByrnesComment
