Re: MLB 14 The Show PS4: Road to the Show Thread
Created a big slugger LF, maxed out contact and power at creation.
In my first game i did pretty well offensively, a 2 RBI single and a 2 runs hommer out of 5 at bats. The problem was defence, as i didn't know i had manual catching enabled, so i dropped the first 3 balls sent to my position on defence for three errors that cost us the game. I was like, what is going on here??
Anyway as offence is valued way more, the scouts are thrilled about my performance.Comment

Re: MLB 14 The Show PS4: Road to the Show Thread
Created an 18-yr-old short stop switch hitter who I'm going to develop his abilities as balanced as possible. After a really poor showing in the prospect showcase games (it's been since MLB The Show '09) I was drafted in the 6th round by the Marlins. I wasn't happy with that so opted to go back to school for a year. Next go around I must've impressed someone because I got drafted in the 3rd round by the Cubbies.Comment

Re: MLB 14 The Show PS4: Road to the Show Thread
( Transfer from the PS3 ) 1st time this has ever happened to me. My 18 year old phenom 1st baseman for St. Louis Cardinals had the game of his life, 4 doubles, a single and a Home Run going 6 for 6 with 6 RBI's and we lost the game to the Dodgers 14-8 go figure and I did not even get player of the game. Oh well the life of my MLB player goes on.When you come to a fork in the road, take it..... Yogi Berra

Re: MLB 14 The Show PS4: Road to the Show Thread
Got the game a few days ago, been playing as a second baseman, having fun so far. Got injured and missed 15 games, and I immediately turned down the injury slider because that's ridiculous being I was just beginning my AA season.
Doing well in AAA right now, batting above .350 with 8 HR, got picked up to the majors only to get dropped back to AAA after only hitting 2 hits in 4 games lol.
I really hate the fact you have to grind to get any kind of progress on your player. I've been playing for four days now, and my guy is only 74 overall. I average anywhere from just 50 to 120 training points MAX every game. Even on a multiple HR game it's minuscule.

Re: MLB 14 The Show PS4: Road to the Show Thread
Hey guys, new to this game as the last baseball game I played was EA Sport's NCAA game many years ago.
I also don't really follow baseball at all so playing this for the first time yesterday was quite interesting.
I bought it because of the great stuff I heard on here and how great it looked. The RTTS mode is what I will almost exclusively play and I created a new guy last night. Made him a LF with decent contact, power, and speed...pretty well-rounded. I'm thinking of re-doing my created guy and maybe making an Infielder to get some more action on defense. I want to play on the Dodgers, my favorite team, and unfortunately they seem to be quite stacked in every area. I'm a California guy so I guess I would be fine with the Giants, Padres, or Angels too. The Dodgers seem to need a 3B, any thoughts on creating one of those?
The hitting killed me so I switched it to beginner to get the hang of just making contact and timing. I was like 1-5 in my first two showcase games combined and then out of nowhere went 7-8 in my 3rd game (went to the 14th inning) and was pleasantly surprised.
I'm a big NBA guy and it's great to see that in this game it seems to be much more rewarding and difficult to make your guy better. I look forward to grinding it out!
Any thoughts/tips would be greatly appreciated! I'm trying to get into baseball!Fino Alla Fine

Re: MLB 14 The Show PS4: Road to the Show Thread
Yeah, I really like the new progression mechanic. The big thing to me is not maxing out too soon. I was maxing out everything by the time I finished my first full year in the majors before. Doesn't seem like I'll be doing that this time around.
Glad to see I'm not the only one with weirdo graphic glitches from time to time. Hopefully that gets snuffed out quickly. It was definitely fully installed because you can't even start the Topps Amateur Showcase until the install meter hit 100%. It happened after about 3 hours of play last night so I was afraid I was overheating the system. :oComment

Re: MLB 14 The Show PS4: Road to the Show Thread
I got drafted 22nd overall, I decided to go back to 1 year college. I came back with #1 pick overall. First game in AA as an CF, I hit the first throw - HR to left center field. What a game, End it up with 3 HR and 6 RBI. Things normalized after that. I am still hitting for .465 16 HR and 46 RBI for the month of April. It seems the pitcher in the league as passed the memo and are throwing a lot more offspeed crap at me. So I have to be more patient and wait for the fastball.
I absolutely love the game so far.Comment

Re: MLB 14 The Show PS4: Road to the Show Thread
Had a good showing at the showcase as a SP, went 3 sets of 3 IP, no runs (earned or otherwise). 9IP, 8k, about .5 WHIP, 0.00 ERA. Decided to enter the draft right away and got picked in the first round at #16 overall to the Orioles. First game in AA I had a complete game, 4 hits, 1 BB, 0.00 ERA and the W.
If only I was even half as good at hitting as I am at pitching in this game. Ah well.Comment

Haha, I don't think .465 and 16 HR in April is "normalized". You're going HAM out there!Comment

Re: MLB 14 The Show PS4: Road to the Show Thread
Considering that I spent my 30,000 stub on my player and that I am rated 90 in the AA. I would say normalized :-). My average is going down. I was at 800 the first 3 games.Comment

Re: MLB 14 The Show PS4: Road to the Show Thread
In that case, more normal...but still, those are some crazy stats. Makes me wonder, what if a top tier player played in AA, would their numbers be like that in real life?Comment

Re: MLB 14 The Show PS4: Road to the Show Thread
He wouldn't stay in AA for long. I am actually surprised that I haven't been called to AAA or Major yet.Comment

I mean hypothetically, let's say we forced Mike Trout to play a year of AA right now, what would his numbers end up being at the end of the season?Comment
