How do you know if/when you are called up from AA to AAA or majors? I know before there were goals, so you could get an idea if you were close. But now, do you just keep playing hoping you get the call one day?

Re: MLB 14 The Show PS4: Road to the Show Thread
Takeo "The Flying Hawaiian" Kato. 6'3" 215 lb SP
Backstory: Top Pitching Prospect since he was 12 years old. He led his Hawaii youth team to the Little League World Series vs. Japan capturing the hearts of all American Baseball fans. He was 6-0 with a 0.68 ERA back then before getting rocked in the finals loss (2 IP 7 ER 11 hits 3 K).
He has since used it a motivation and become the next pitching phenom. He has not lost a HS start in 5 years of Varsity (34-0) and led his team to back to back state titles. The 17 year old phenom is looking to get back in the Nation's spotlight for the first time since that tragic loss almost 5 years ago. He is arrogant and brings intensity/passion the Majors have not seen a quite sometime. Powerful Pitcher with a 95+ fastball, 12-6 curve, and circle change.
Showcase:Takeo Cato and the West squad went 3-0 over the weekend at the 2014 MLB Rookie Showcase. #1 Pitching prospect Takeo Kato looked very strong throwing 9 IP 1 H 13 K over three games. The rookie blew people away with a few 100 MPH fast balls and a well improved curve. He is a project Top 5 pick in the draft.
Draft: Takeo Kato is regarded as the most talented raw pitcher in the draft. He has been on a tear since his little league blunder and was the #1 overall prospect in the 2014 draft class since his freshman year of HS. However, the does not mean he would go #1.
#1 Houston: 3rd Baseman from West
#2 Miami: SS from West
#3 Atlanta (acquired through Chicago for 2 prospects): Takeo Kato SP West
**Obviously no trades in the draft but I picked Atlanta* Tried 7 times and every time was drafted at #3.**
Houston and Miami decided to go with everyday starters. Kato said at the press conference " I will make Miami and Houston pay everytime I step on that mound. I am very blessed to be in a playoff organization from the start and look forward to getting to the bigs soon and prove why I was #1."
AA: Mississippi Braves: #1 SP prospect Takeo Kato took the mound for his first start in AA ball this past weekend vs. Mobile. He did not disappoint. The rookie went 8 IP 4 H 13K 0 BB in a 4-0 win.
(1-0)
#2: Feeding off the first professional win last week Kato took the mound for his second start against Jackson. Kato started off hot striking out 5 of the first 6 batters but could not keep it going. Jackson tied the score at 3 in the top of the 7th and Kato was pulled. (1 ER off HR, 1 runner LOB when pulled that scored, and 1 on a terrible throw from RF over the 3rd baseman's head) Kato went 6 IP 6 H 3 ER 10 K 0BB in the 4-3 victory earning a No Decision. He said afterward " It was a pretty humbling experience. Most guys would be happy with a 1.93 ERA but that fact I couldn't get the win sucks. I am going to work on some things and improve because that performance is not going to cut it."

Re: MLB 14 The Show PS4: Road to the Show Thread
After my first showcase I decided to go to a four year university and it paid off. I went from being a 6th round pick to a 2nd round pick of the Phillies.
After tearing up AA with a .426 BA in 35 games I got called straight up to the Majors for a struggling Phillies team.
So far in my first 22 games in the majors I am hitting a respectable .324 with 7 home runs. The home run total has been surprising to me because in my time in AA I only hit 6 total. I've also been working on my patience at the plate only striking out 5 times, and after not walking my first 19 games I've drawn 2 in the past 3 games. (More than my 1 walk in 35 AA games.)
I am a third baseman, and up to a 71 overall. Still not very good, but better than what they had going on for them.NHL: Vegas Golden Knights
NCAAF: Ohio State
NFL: Minnesota Vikings
MLB: Chicago CubsComment

Re: MLB 14 The Show PS4: Road to the Show Thread
I started as a closer named after the Big Lebowski that the announcer just calls "The Dude"
He is an aggressive pitcher who can hit 98 mph on his cutter that he pairs with a sinker and slider to overwhelm batters.
After not giving up a run in 3 IP in the showcase, he was drafted in the mid-second round by the Orioles.
After about 15 appearances with their AA Bay Sox (I think) he has like 12 saves, around a 2 ERA, 1 Blown save and is 1-1.
Rated 57 (B potential), higher than the AAA CP, who is low 40-s rated, so I imagine I will get called up soon. The Majors are a different story though, as their CP is tearing it up and is rated an 81, but has an adjusted overall at 91.
Probably also going to make a well rounded SP, a hitting SS, a speed and contact CF.Comment

Re: MLB 14 The Show PS4: Road to the Show Thread
I started a 3B last night. Did decent in the showcase (.295, 2 RBIs), had a B potential. Drafted 14th? (don't remember actually spot) in the second round by the Royals. Was going to do one year JUCO, but figured what the heck.
First game in AA, first at bat, 3-2 count. Crushed one deep center for a 3 run HR. That was my only hit of the game, grounded or flew out all the others.

Just wondering, does it really matter what round you're actually drafted in?
Do your stats change if you're picked in the 6th round than in the 2nd?
If you bomb the showcase, but kickass in AA, you're going to get promoted quickly, I would think.Make #FranchiseNation great again!

It depends who drafted you. I've been kicking arse and taken name and still haven't been called up after the month of April. I like the new minor stadium so its not so bad.Comment

Your stats are not affected by your draft rank. Your draft rank is affected by your potential rating. So, no it doesn't really matter. Its just where you start your career.

Re: MLB 14 The Show PS4: Road to the Show Thread
Curious, can your potential rating change after the Showcase?
Also, is there a correlation between what region you played the Showcase in (i.e. East, MidWest, West, etc.) and what teams draft you? Like if I play in the West Showcase am I more likely to be drafted by a West team?Fino Alla Fine

Went 6th overall to the Mariners last night. Not sure if I'll keep that. Still waiting for the final "PS4 updated version" of OSFM which should be ready tonight according to Knight.
As far as I can tell, it matters in the fact that where you're drafted affects your team's perception of you as a player. Last night I got drafted 6th overall. My team's perception of me in the player comparison menu was "Top Prospect." The perception determines how they handle your career. I'm assuming if your perception is that of the top prospect, you might be fasttracked to the bigs, or given priority over guys with perceptions like "career minor leaguer"
Earlier (I did the showcase like 4-5 times haha) I had guys get taken in various rounds ranging from 2nd to 6th and the perception would say things ranging from "big league hopeful" to "organizational depth" or things like that.Comment
