Re: Getting the game early?!?
Saturday morning, i visited my local Target here in STL for some groceries. I decided to browse the video game section to kill some time while i waited for my fiance to finish up. Low and behold....they had about 10 copies in their glass display case of MLB The Show 14 for ps4...and i was stunned. I asked the employee working there to grab me a copy (it was a female....who i assumed didnt know any better) She grabs me a copy and at this point im in absolute shock. So i have my copy in my hands for about 10 mins while i as quickly as possible, find my fiance and wrap up the grocery shopping and get in line. We get to one of the main check out counters...and they rang up all our groceries and finally get to the game. The clerk rang it up 3 or 4 times before telling me its not for sale yet =(
I was sooooo close. Im kicking myself wondering if the girl who actually grabbed me a copy in the video game section would have actually sold me a copy...but im assuming there's something embedded on the bar code or something that says its not for sale? Idk....either way....if someone is ballsy enough to go back to said Target (PM me if you want the exact location here in STL) and give it a shot let me know. Although, im assuming they've probably removed all the copies from their case by now.Go Cardinals

Number 2, IF they are out, there's code in the POS system at the store that tells it the UPC for TS PS4 isn't due until next week, so DONT allow it to scan.Comment

Number 1, that's weird because just a couple hours ago I think it was, Russell confirmed no copies are out yet,
Number 2, IF they are out, there's code in the POS system at the store that tells it the UPC for TS PS4 isn't due until next week, so DONT allow it to scan.
But that does make sense they have a system to prevent that from happening (Which is good). Also, i can assure you, i did a double and triple take to make sure it was for Ps4. I've never had any luck finding any game available early. It would make sense if major retailers already had copies....but im sure 99% of them are smart enough or are aware when they are allowed to put them on their shelves. Perhaps i just got lucky enough to be at a store that didnt know better...which in the end, didnt matter anyway.Go Cardinals

I been getting games early for years and I'm gonna disagree when some say games don't get to the stores until Thursday/Friday prior to release. That's just not true or should I say those statements are inaccurate. It may hold true for GameStop but not all retailers.
I would be willing to go out on a limb and say some retailers have the game already. Just my .2 going off past experiences

Unless maybe he meant no copies are "out for sale"?

Re: Getting the game early?!?
Sony DID something similar when the PS4 first launched. A lot of the accessories and some games were street dated for like the 12th and such of Nov. But like around the 8th/9th, Sony lifted that, and said the retailers if they had the product, could sell them. I remember the camera and such were street dated, but I went in to GS earlier than that date for a different reason, and they said they were good to go to sell it because Sony lifted the date, so I picked up those things while I was there.Comment

Re: Getting the game early?!?
Yeah. I got my games and accessories ahead of the console launch but I think Sony knew that they would be "worthless" without having the console so they let retailers sell them ahead of launch.PSN: ckarlic

Re: Getting the game early?!?
Any major store has a system where once it scans it says it can't be sold so no point trying Walmart or gamestop or targets because unless the clerk is a complete idiot and after it says they can't sell they enter a generic upc and put 60 and sell it you won't be getting it there.
Also they can put them out now in displays because they know they can't be sold

Your criminal record for theft should have begun right there and then...
Now we know for certain some retailers have it on site, it'll be interesting to see when the first copies get out of the door...Comment
