Re: MLB 14 The Show Franchise Progress

Another quick update: Allen Craig was just lost for the season with a torn ACL, so we have a huge hole in our offense. Since I had Taveras up since opening day, I wasn't playing Adams a lot. Well now he will be thrown into the fire and hopefully hold down 1B for the rest of the year. I don't know if I should call up another outfielder and bring my total to 5 or to just add another reliever since I have Jay as my 4th outfielder. At least Taveras is raking, as he is 2nd in BA, 2nd in doubles, 1st in triples, 1st in HR's, and 1st in RBI's.

We are currently 23-11 after sweeping Atlanta. I was using All Star+ for both pitching and batting until my profile freaked out and changed everything back to default. So now I'm working my way back up to those difficulties.

HozandMoose Good day to you sir. I was just wondering since your in 2016,how are the astros top prospects doing? If you do not have OSFM rosters then that might be hard to check. Top Prospects would be George Springer, John Singleton and Carlos Correa.

I guess anyone who is in 2016 and beyond with OSFM roster could check this. I am just asking you since your the most recent post with a future season.

I've now won 4 in a row to go to 45-31. Kris Bryant is a beast for me, he's hitting over .400 with 2 homers and 14 RBI in 14 games. Soler has done alright he's hitting .258 1 HR 2 RBI. Alcantara is hitting over .300 just sent down Brett Jackson to make room for Baez I will have Bonifacio play against lefties as he's hitting .286 against them and only .205 against righties. Alcantara is pretty fast too so I don't miss Bonifacio's speed too much (he leads the league in steals). I'm going to try to find a package for Martin Perez of the Rangers involved with Scheirholtz whos hitting .329 6 HR, 26 RBI as he comes back from the DL in a couple days. Hector Rondon continues to be pretty good for me.

Re: MLB 14 The Show Franchise Progress

The 8 game win streak to start May is over. Lost to the Astros 6-5 on a day when I had Chris Tillman going. He was not sharp at all going 5 innings allowing 9 hits and 5 ERs. His ERA went from 1.96 to 2.64. I didn't help by giving Chris Davis a day off, even though he didn't need it. (I wanted him fresh for Detroit)

All in all the series was great. Team pounded out 34 hits scored 25 runs. Adam Jones contiued to kill it in May. In game two he had a 3 run HR and a Solo HR for 4 RBIs (for the series he was 4 for 13, 2 2B, 2 HR, 6 RBI.) Nelson Cruz also hit two HRs to give him 11 on the year to lead the team. Matt Wieters is quitely putting up some quality production numbers. He is hitting .252 8 HRs, 24 RBIs and .364 w.RISP. Not all good news though, Manny Machado has gone ice cold, even balls he squares up are right to people. Dropped him to 9th in the 2nd game of the series and he at least got a hit it was a triple! Gave him the finale off too. He has gone 3-30 3B, BB in May.

Pitching wasn't as great in this series, Game 1 Miguel Gonzalez only went 4.1 and was in line for a loss, until the team exploded against Jared Cosart scoring 5 in the 6th and 6 in the 7th to put the game away. Josh Stinson won his 3rd game in relief lowering his ERA to 1.35. Game 2 Bud Norris got his second win of the season going 6 but he gave up 5 runs all earned. Zach Britton went 3 innings to record his first career save. Game three saw Tillman with his worst outing of the season, but he avoided the loss when the team scored runs in 4 consecutive innings before Troy Patton gave up the lead and took the loss.

Detroit comes into town for the last three games of the home stand:
Game 1: Ubaldo Jimenez (3-2 2.66 ERA) vs Max Scherzer (3-3 3.28 ERA)
              Game 2: Wei-Yin Chen (3-2 3.19 ERA) vs Anibal Sanchez (5-2 3.31 ERA)
Game 3: Miguel Gonzalez (1-2 (4.14 ERA) vs Drew Smily (2-2 4.97 ERA)

Whoo Hoo only have to face Verlander once this season!

Re: MLB 14 The Show Franchise Progress

Well after taking a 2-day break from the game, for a while, it looked like I turned it around.

I brought up Carlos Correa, and decided that I was going to rest Jose Altuve for a series. Hopefully that will be the little reset I need to get going with him.

After the little break I had, it was like a recharge to my batteries. I came out early on and was patient at the plate. In the first inning, all three of my batters got into a full count. That's how patient I was.... and it worked. We jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the 2nd inning.

And then that's when it went down hill. I got excited and started swinging at crappy pitches. We didn't score a single run the rest of the game.

Luckily, Jarred Cosart pitched a hell of a game. In 7 innings, he gave up 1 hit, 1 run (unearned), and 12 strikeouts. In the 8th inning, he got a little tired so I brought in Paul Clemens. I was hoping a move to the bullpen would turn him around.

Here's the funny thing. He struck out the first 3 batters he faced. He came in with no outs. He struck out Lindor, then Morgan to get the first 2 outs... then he struck out Michael Brantley on a Curveball in the dirt, but Jason Castro couldn't handle it and the ball went back to the backstop.

Jason Kipnis came up next and hit a 3-run bomb to win the game for them.

That loss sends our losing streak to 4 games. We can't catch a break right now

Re: MLB 14 The Show Franchise Progress

Finally got around to starting my real Franchise mode now that I'm comfortable with hitting (Only took two months!).

Started out with the Cubbies and I'm having tremendous success (at least against the Phils).

All of Nate Schierholtz's hits have been for extra bases (his first 3 hits were all triples), so even though he has had limited playing time, he has made the most of it. Junior Lake and Anthony Rizzo are a great 1-2 punch in the middle of the lineup. My pitching is adequate. They aren't completely shutting teams out, but they are doing just enough to keep me in games (especially the bullpen, who I think has 1 earned run through six games). Weirdly enough, the only guy I cant really hit with is Starlin Castro, although his bat will wake up soon enough.

I know being 4-2 in early April isn't exactly cause for this kind of excitement, but with how deep my team is in the minors, I get the feeling that I could make one or two big moves over the summer and make the playoffs this year.
I'm sure that will all come crashing down when we are 15-30 in late May, but for now, things are all sunshine and happiness in Chi-Town.

Re: MLB 14 The Show Franchise Progress

Well, I stuck to my guns. I sat Altuve for the whole series against the Indians (we lost all three games to extend our losing streak to 6 in a row) and it paid off in a BIG way.

In our first game against the Marlins in a 3-game set, our offense took all of it's frustration out on Jerome Williams. We scored 10 runs to finally win 10-1.

Rafael Furcal went 5-5 with 2 doubles, a triple, and an RBI. Jose Altuve went 3-5 with a double and 3 RBIs. Jason Castro finally found his swing, going 4-5 with 2 doubles and a home run getting him 4 RBIs. This big game finally put him over the .200 BA mark. He's been AWFUL this season for me.

Mike Wright was out-freaking-standing on the mound, going 7 innings with 6 K's and only 4 hits allowed.

This game puts us at 8-11. We're 3.5 games behind the Angels.

I've lost 3 in a row to drop to 46-34. I'm facing the Nats who have the best record in league, they also traded for Paul Konerko. I acquired Martin Perez and Matt Wolff (C potential) from the Rangers for Scheirholtz and 2 B pitching prospects, Perez gave up 6 runs in 4 innings in his debut. Rizzo is leading the MVP race hitting .316, 20 HR, 65 RBI.

After 10 games, my Braves are 6-4, two games behind the surprising Mets.

Just like the real Braves, we've had great pitching to start the season but have struggled with the bats.

Justin and Heyward are each hitting .306. Chris Johnson is hitting .286 with a team-leading three homers and six RBIs. B.J., Freeman and Uggla have all struggled.

Medlen, Minor and Teheran have been almost unhittable.

Started up a fantasy draft franchise with the Padres just like bkrich. We had the 10th pick and I feel like we really put together a solid ball club that's going to competitive for years to come. I'll show my 25 man, some highlights in the minors, and my lineups. I set it up so that the entire league utilizes the DH, it's just way better in my opinion.

RF Gabriel Guerrero (AA) - 20 years old, 62 OVR, B POT

So there it is. My bullpen is easily the weakest part of my team and it might stay that way for a little while. Along with the lack of talent in the pen, we also only have one lefty which leads to matchup nightmares for us on a nightly basis. Since we're so competitive already, I'm planning on trading Gabriel Guerrero from our farm system or another B potential prospect we have in the minors for a left handed reliever. Besides that, I'm VERY happy with the roster. We're young, we're cheap for now, and in the places were we're weak, we have bright futures. What you don't see listed are the 5 other B potential starting pitchers we have in our farm system, some will stick around, and others will probably be traded for help in our bullpen. Byron Buxton, Francisco Lindor, and Miguel Sano were all Top 50 prospects in the draft and, along with Yelich, I knew I wanted them and I wanted them to contribute immediately. Buxton and Lindor were both MLB ready, Sano is a bit raw still and his fielding is horrible. Because of that we drafted Chavez to hold down the hot corner for right now, and then we'll call up Maikel Franco to hold it down while Sano stays at DH. Yelich has a bright future and I'm excited to watch him grow out in left field. We have a bit of a void at second base right now, but Schoop has good upside so we're counting on him to blossom with some playing time. Goldschmidt, Harper, and Jordan Zimmerman are our 3 proven superstars and they've done a great job leading the way. I see a couple championships in our future!

Through our first 14 games, we're 8-5 and we hold a 0.5 game lead over the Rockies. I can really only see the Rockies keeping pace with us over the course of the season because they have some serious pop in there lineup. I think I'm going to go play another game now, thanks for reading if you made it this far!

I started a franchise with the Phillies last night and simmed through my first four years managing the team.

In year one we went 70-92, year two we also went 70-92, year three we went 69-93 (consistency!), and year four we went 84-78 and missed the 2nd Wildcard by 3 games.

In year one we dealt Cliff Lee for prospects (he went on to win a WS with the Mariners that year), Chase Utley was also moved for prospects as was Carlos Ruiz, Cole Hamels, and Jonathan Papelbon.

Through FA we have added such players as Giancarlo Stanton and Mat Latos, and we just signed Paul Goldschmidt in this offseason

Prospects that have arrived: 2B Christian Taylor (moved from SS), 3B Maikel Franco, RF J.P. Crawford (moved from SS), SP Jesse Biddle, SP Henry Owens, SP Matt Barnes, RP Dominic Leone, RP Corey Knebel (moved from CP), RP Jake Barrett (moved from CP).

                            25-man Roster
                            Starting Pitchers:
                            1. Mat Latos (91, A POT)

                            Carlos Perez (76, C POT)

                            Outfielders
LF Dominic Brown (89, B POT)
CF Ben Revere (80, C POT)
CF Brian Goodwin (78, B POT)

                            RF J.P. Crawford (81, B POT)

We should be serious contenders with this team now.

Cubs are doing well. 45-38, with a Team ERA of 3.26. Arrieta, Wood, and Hammel have been outstanding for me. Also traded Olt, Jackson, and Vogelbach for Giancarlo Stanton (needed an extra bat, and Baez and Bryant will be coming up at some point).

I am curious of one thing. This may be a dumb question, but I saw in another thread someone mentioned they turn off trades in franchise until July 10. How exactly do I fix that? I'm at July 1 and really like the idea, but I can't for the life of me figure out how to turn CPU trades back on. Any help?

At the all star break am now 50-45 with the cubs I lost 6 straight to close the 1st half of the season. Lake and Rizzo were my two all stars. I'm now 3 back of the brewers for first place. Rizzo is hitting .302 21 homers, 76 RBI.
