Re: MLB 14 The Show Franchise Progress

My offense has continued to be punchless, just like in real life. We are making good contact just getting really unlikely with contact right to the fielders. Also been unlucky with being robbed a few times, but we're 14-7 with a DOMINANT pitching staff so far. Hope the hits fall soon

Re: MLB 14 The Show Franchise Progress

I just put together the greatest comeback I've ever had in a game.

Down 9 in the top of the third after Napoli homered in inning one, Nava and Ortiz score.

2nd inning Gomes doubles, Victorino scores. Pedroia triples, Gomes scores. Nava grounds to short, Pedroia scores. Ortiz homers, Nava scores. Napoli homers off Phelps who replaces Kuroda.

      4th inning:
      Beltran homers. Still no hope.

      Inning 5:
Ellsbury collects RBI and Beltran collects 2 RBI. 4-9. Maybe we have something.

      Inning 7:
Solarte scores on Beltran sac fly, Ellsbury takes chance and scores as well. Cervelli RBI. 7-9. It's on.

      Inning 9:
Ellsbury strikes out. Oh well, hopes gone and it was a nice run.
Gardner pops out. Wow fml it was worth a try.
Beltran lines to center for a single. What?! Tex lines to center for single. Runners on first and second. McCan pinch hits for Cervelli. McCan homers on 2-2 count, Yankees take lead 10-9.

Crap write up but damn that was a crazy game.

I feel myself holding the lead against comebacks more than trying to get them myself in my franchise with the Orioles. I believe we are 9-7. I've gotten off to some 4-5 run leads 3 or 4 times and then lose a little bit of interest, walk a batter or two, and find myself struggling to hold on in the 9th. Only one blown game so far though

Haha, usually when I'm down it's swing away. I just try to get it over ASAP. But this being the Sox, I was like, man we have to lose with giving it our best shot. Honestly my 9th inning run was me just swinging away. I was down 0-2 with both Beltran and Tex. I had swung at some ugly pitches. Then when I had two I, I was like nah I could do this.

I do pretty well with holding the lead. But HOF is a joke at times. Seriously some of the HR they get off my I don't understand how they get such great contact on the location of the pitch.

I guess I could have pulled Kuroda sooner but damn, in the first inning? I wanted to try and get him to the third but after his last HR I felt bad for that ERA spike.

Quit using guess pitch and I swept the Yankees in a 2 game set 6-4 and 9-4 were the Victories. It might be beginners luck but I have hit 6 home runs the last two games, and I am last in home runs so hopefully that's a sign because my pitching is awesome, I play on all star for pitching. I am 27-19. Olt has homered in his last three games and since I've moved Castro to clean up he has hit 4 home runs in like 8 games.

Well I have played the show since MLB 06 and I am off to my best start ever. I am 10-2 with the Arizona Diamondbacks. Everyone is doing there part on the team, expect for Chavez who is hitting 0.68. I sent Chavez down to the minors, and called up Blake Dewitt. Picked up Dewitt as a Free agent for about 850k 1/yr.Not sure signing Dewitt make a lot of sense, but he wont cost a lot.I wanted to bring up Chris Owings but he isn't ready yet in my season.

I am not sure what to do with Eric Chavez hitting 0.68 is making him useless other than defense. Its still early in season but not sure if sending him down to minors at 36 or 37 was smart. But what would be the point in keeping someone with that low productivity on the team.

Lost 5 in a row with the Cubs, some games only getting two hits. Dynamic difficulty has knocked me back down to Rookie with timed hitting. One game I hit no less than 8 balls to the warning track. At a total loss which is what I'm getting use to doing with the Cubs.

Re: MLB 14 The Show Franchise Progress

Just started my franchise with the Royals. I'm playing on dynamic difficulty, but since I've really only messed around with RTTS until now my difficulties are a tad off. I'm was on HoF pitching and Veteran hitting for my first game.

I ended up beating the Tigers 10-7, I had 18 hits and they had 15. For some reason, I also had 3 errors and I'm not quite sure why that was. One was a complete screw up by Infante on an easy double play that would have ended the inning. The next was that Cain just completely missed a pop fly, but I have a feeling that was my fault on his positioning.

Luckily I hit 3 home runs off Verlander (probably thanks to the low hitting difficulty), back to back HRs with Moose and Cain in the 2nd inning and a 3-run blast with Billy Butler in the 5th inning. I just couldn't catch a break on defense and that's why it was so close as 5 of the runs I gave up were earned. Hopefully I'll get knocked back down a level pretty soon on pitching. I doubt I'll fair as well with Vargas on the hill in game 2.

Also, does anyone have any tips for meter pitching? Is it good to go into the red or not? It felt like I wouldn't get any calls on the outside edge with Shields when I maxed out the meter.

I'm 30-18 with the Reds so far, the pitching has been unbelievable, just waiting for the injuries, LOL.
Votto started cold but has been heating up lately, Phillips is leading the league in hitting. Frazier and Bruce both have been streaky have come up big in a couple of games (last night Bruce hit a two run shot in the 8th to beat the Cards 2-0, Cingrani got the win)
I'm playing Santiago at short, Cozart can't hit a bull in the butt with a bass fiddle.
Pitching and hitting both on Dynamic Difficulty, auto fielding and base running.
I'm following the play 1 sim 5 plan, trying to play at least one game in every park.
This is the first time I've played Franchise mode, I usually do RTTS but I'm having such a good time I haven't touched RTTS.

Another thing I would try with Schoop is only play him vs poor pitching and against L/R whichever he hits best vs.

                      Set them up for success!

                      Good luck , bro.
Thanks for the feedback. My hitters are starting to turn it around except for Schoop. I will take that advice for putting him out there against pitchers I think he can succeed against. I have Lombardozzi who can step in and be a solid replacement until Schoop is ready.

I think I'm in the .235 range as a team which about a .010 jump in the past few games. If I can get to the .270s range I'll be happy. I also need my power guys to produce a little better and starting hitting some long balls. Of all people, Delmon Young, is my HR leader with 5 through 22 games. Chris Davis has 3-4 HR and several have 2-3. Nick Markakis is my only hitter to not go deep yet.

I'm sitting at 8-14 and I'm last in the AL East. My schedule has been pretty rough so far (Rays, BoSox x2, Yanks, Tigers, Jays x2)

I now get to host the 8-14 Royals for three games so I'm hoping to at least take two.

Just beat the Padres 9-8. Rizzo had a 2 run homer (10) as did Ruggiano (5). Rizzo finished the game with 3 RBI (38), Ruggiano had 2 (11), Bonifacio had 2 RBI as well (11) and he also stole home which looked like he was out but the ump ruled him safe, that gave me a 7-0 lead. Jackson added a sac fly to give me 8-0 lead. Then Jackson gives up 2 singles and walk to start the 6th, pinch hitter Seth Smith comes to the plate and hits a grand slam makes it 8-4. San Diego continues to chip away at the lead eveuntually pulling within one run, Rizzo comes to the plate in the 8th and gets his 3rd RBI of the game with a sac fly. Wright comes in and gives up a homerun to gykro to make it 9-8, then in the 9th Veras goes 1-2-3 to notch his 15th save of the year. I have won 5 in a row and since I stopped using guess pitch, its only been 3 games so its a small sample size but I have scored a total of 24 runs.

Just faced Matt Moore in my Yankees franchise and he owned me. Couldn't get much going against him and when I did have runners in scoring position with less than 2 outs, I would hit a weak liner or strike out against him. I think i just put too much pressure on myself since I knew runs against Moore would be rare the rate I was going.

So far in my Yankees franchise (10-6) , Tillman of the O's and Moore of the Rays dominated me. Something about their delivery, especially Moore's, stifles me.
