...and yes.....I've been bringing up ASB2005(ESP. Gen counts) for years.....

So I say this with much respect....

You guys ask us to give a little latitude for quick counts.....

    So...

Throw fair and balanced out the window for us on this one!!!

(Keep in SCEA QC's.....and add in the rest as options!)

I didn't think I would like quick counts, but after giving it a go I sorta fell in love with it. I could play several games a day and get decent results doing so. It didn't seem to take much away from the game and I thought I was having just as much fun using QC as I would with a normal game ..... that is until I turned quick counts off for a game 3 days ago.

I turned quick counts off for a change of pace and now I can never go back. I'm able to take the first pitch, work the pitch count, bunt, steal, take my time and enjoy the game for what it is - the best sports sim ever made.

I've come to the conclusion that this game needs to be played as if you are in the game. It just doesn't feel right (for me) when I rush it just to get a game in. Taking my time to enjoy the atmosphere, the cut scenes, the overall feel of the game is unmatched by any other game on the market and I highly doubt any studio will ever come close to The Show.

I'm not bashing Quick Counts. I think QC's work great for people that want to play more games per day or want to finally complete a season and I applaud SD for implementing the feature into the game ..... it just isn't for me.

Not really trying to make a point or certainly not trying to start a flame war, but I'm just curious if others have fell in love with Quick Counts only to fall out of love with them just as fast?

        Cheers
Agreed. I tried it for one game and couldn't get through more than a couple innings.

Not a fan of it as either the pitcher or the hitter. It just has a different feel when you can actually experience the at-bat (from either side of it), working the count, knowing what the pitcher is throwing in each situation and what the hitter is swinging at/taking and when.

QC just takes that away from me. But more power to those who like it.

Loving QC so far now that I started up my franchise. Is there a way to have it permanently turned on? I currently have to flick it on at the stadium select screen before every game. Minor annoyance, but just in case I forget to do it one game...

Nope, that's the only place to turn it on.

I'm considering turning this off and going with fast play as the counts in this are just idiotic at times. Last game I jumped out to a 7-0 lead at Cincinnati, then the offense went into the toilet after chasing Cueto out of the game. Dan Haren gives up 4 runs in 5 IP to get it back to 7-4 heading into the 6th. Maholm gives up 2 in the 8th to make it 7-6 heading into the 9th. I bring in Kenley Jansen, 90 rated CP, Cincinnati pinch hits to start it off and its Billy Hamilton and his .187 Avg, 50 Plate Discipline, 48 Vision, 54 Contact and it starts me with a 3-0 count, really? Jansen facing a guy with terrible vision, contact and discipline, hitting below .200 on the season and he gets the gift of a 3-0 count? Where is the logic in that? What's the formula that put that together exactly? So of course he walks, next guy hits a dribbler down the 3B line that cant be fielded and he gets to third, strikeout the next guy before Votto hits a sac fly and now its tied, I go on to lose in the 13th on a walk off HR by Pena. I guarantee with 100% certainty had I not been using QC I'd have won that game as I would have attacked Hamilton and made him beat me not just issue a free pass. It's instances like that that make me question exactly how these counts are being figured out, if there even is a formula at all and if there is maybe it's taking so many different things into account that in the end it's more random then it should be.

This is my biggest beef with QC's. Way too many at bats with a 3-2, 2-2 count, but yet the AI get 1-2, 2-1 constantly. Hopefully SD can tweak it up a bit .... when they do I'll give it another go, but until then .. Fast play FTW!

                Stop it. There's no bias.

There is too many ball counts though so I'll give you that.

So quicks counts now are based on what? The players ratings or their statistics?

                    Quick Counts...YUP!

                    FWIW:

                    "Game Saver" for this guy:

Cuts game times to a reasonable length and saves my (middle aged) central nervous system from having to make / take 300+ pitches...

Great first effort, but as others have stated:

                    1) Less 3 ball and full counts

                    2) Sac bunt and fly situations should have one strike at the most

                    3) When pitch hitting or changing pitchers, it would be nice to not have the count that the previous guy was going to deal with visible OR simply generate a fresh count based off the new match up, etc.

                    That being said:

Just PLEASE don't remove the feature...

I'll take it "as is" before seeing it removed...

As far as the ASB options go:

Kind of intrigued by "Smart Counts", in that it takes hot / cold into account...

Could be ideal in conjunction with a ratings element for both pitcher and hitter...

I agree with most of what you say and guys please remember its called Quick Counts for a reason and in its first go around SCEA hit a Grand Slam IMO and very little needs to be tweaked and I even accept the possible short comings on bunts or sacrifices because I see it as the whole picture and have no issue with it as this mode is programmed near perfect !

Oh and Please SCEA if you add something like a ASB smart counts please make it separate from Quick Counts because with QC I feel like I have alot of real Human interaction that I dont get from the full game version .

And I have no frustration with QC as the AI is simple and painless with no forced drawn out AI torture

I believe quick counts gives a bonus to hitting ratings, when you start off with 2 strikes. That is what in game guide says at least

Haven't tried it and I don't think I will. Sounds like a great feature though but just not for me. I just don't find it realistic that ZERO first pitches were swung at all game, and all season for that matter.
