    The Show getting Stale?

I love the show gameplay is really good, some things can be improved like baserunning, fielding, but it is very solid. But the other aspects of the series really seem to be dragging.

In RTTS for instance, sure the goals and draft process are way better, but it is the same dull, shallow grind with zero personality, franchise also suffers from this. I don't feel a part of a league, I have no control over anything, money is useless..Why if I want a trade, and I am a superstar do they never listen? Why cannot I sign endorsements deals? why don't I get tweets from fans/family based on my play? Newspaper articles.? This games needs a fresh coat of paint. Dont get me wrong I LOVE the show, gameplay is great, but does anyone else feel everything else feels so stale?

I would like to see more happenings around the league, news articles, stats...Seems this is really missing in The Show and has for years. With a new gen i was hoping these things could be addressed.

(OP, sorry, not trolling your posts, but you created a new thread with same question, so I gave my opinion here, as well)

Clearly, you're comparing to the MyPlayer Mode in 2K. I could do without a lot of that stuff; yeah, it'd be nice, but I know how little time the dev's have between games and the last thing I want is resources spent on coming up with fake Twitter messages. If the core of the game and mode were completely solid, then sure go for it; but I'd much rather have flawless gameplay and/or completely overhauled player models. I remember back in the day playing much less technologically advanced baseball games where I used to imagine all the ancillary stuff (e.g., storylines, rivalries, off-the-field stuff, etc.). LOL at how far our expectations have come!

I don't like or play basketball...I also brought up many things regarding the lack of news from the league in franchise, there is a major disconnect right now between my season and the rest of the league. Even maddens twitter feeds do a much better job, where is the league news?

I'm glad someone else brought this up because I feel the same way. It's really good game but it's so boring and the immersion wears off pretty fast. I don't know what more they can do but they game feels really bland to me now.

          Re: The Show getting Stale?

Personally I hope none of that is added..I don't need news stories or press conference..some fake agent etc for every RTTS player I have. 2k had the Twitter challenges, they all became the one in the same, same with their press conferences..they weren't unique. Especially because you couldn't by-pass any of it..more characters same ole same ole.

People keep on bringing up NBA2K I hope the Show stays far away from what they do.. they did nothing right outside the graphics ..mycareer was horribly done..

It sounds to me like you guys need to get outside and live a little? Generated tweets and newspaper articles? Common guys ..... seriously. I'm pretty sure I'd rather have SD work on other aspects of the game besides improving twitter. Tweets?? .... seriously?

This isn't 2k. Leave it the way it is.

It sounds like a more appropriate title for this thread would be "Is RttS getting stale"? As for the game itself, no. There is so much to do, if RttS is getting stale I'll switch over to Franchise, if that gets stale I'll switch over to DD, etc. etc.

In fact, one the greatest things about The Show is the variety of options that prevent the game from getting stale.

And they have some great classic rosters you can download and play 1984 or 1994 etc..

There is so much to do and with saves to future games there's no rush..

And even switch to another game, like Watch Dogs etc..now and then.

Actually some good points are brought up by the op. the show devs should take a look at ootp and thier association mode. combine the show gameplay plus the managing part of ootp park, for my taste we would get close to the perfect sportsgame.

I'm new to The Show, and I love it, but I do agree with the OP that the presentation of RTTS could benefit from something like the NBA 2K storyline. I suppose, optimally, that cut-scenes could be optional for those who don't want to watch them. Me, I like that my player in NBA has friends and rivals and a life off the court. Even NHL 14 took a few steps in this direction last year. But it's not a top priority for me.

Out of the Park Baseball is wonderful; I still play in an online OOTP league. Not sure how that particular feature could be translated to The Show. I need to play more with Franchise and DD modes to think on it.

                        Re: The Show getting Stale?

He doesn't completely have no point here, they could add some flavor but not with the desserts and sides of a twitter account and a "family" or "news media" lol. Glad they won't be going in that direction.

They could flavor up some of these modes, by putting more meat to the bones of this gaming franchise. More rewarding statistical tracking and overlays, (as much as it's knocked) a further dynamic commentary based on game mode developments, way deeper player accessories and personification. FIFA rewards you for example, with unique haircuts and shoes, etc as your career progresses.

Being able to control the uniformity of Yankee player uniforms and facial hair, would be the kind of touches I'd enjoy. Sounds of the show gave the game much flare as well. A ton of flare in fact. Just put more meat to the bones of this game, things that should be in that currently aren't.

Currently this game to me is like eating a good hot dog.

I'd like to also make another special point to slow play mode, which has never really been apart of the game distinctly, and has been completely eradicated now in favor of quick play by removing the only slow features that were in the game. Restoration of that is beyond essential, and it really needs to be focused on as an asset to the game. Because this is the kind of thing the op is talking about, lack of presentations and feel of being in the game, rather than just playing to a W/L.

                          Re: The Show getting Stale?

Guys his point was that there is no immersion in the game outside of the actual on-field action, you don't have to keep zeroing in on the part about "tweets."

Specifically in RTTS, You can't even look at a list of transactions during the season. You can't see who your team drafts when June rolls around. Sometimes I'll be playing a game and see a superstar player on a new team and say "wow how did he get there?" and have no way of finding out.

If any of you have played FIFA, the Be A Pro mode does a great job of keeping you aware of what's going on in the league OUTSIDE of just your specific player. I would love it if The Show tried to emulate that aspect of FIFA. It has trade news and rumors (or "transfer" in soccer parlance lol), actual write-ups on your team/players games and current level of performance, you will see comments made by your manager about your player in the media, etc.

The gameplay is great, but RTTS (and franchise to be honest) in The Show feels cold and empty. I never feel a sense of context whatsoever. Yes franchise is a little bit better than RTTS when it comes to the amount of information available to you, but there's still no sense of context. The league doesn't feel alive. I'd like there to be a news section that keeps you up to date on, for example, pennant races without me having to manually check box scores and standings constantly to get a sense of what happened. "Rockies Close Within 1 game of Giants in NL West Race Off 2-run Shot By Tulowitzki With 3 Games Left To Play." Yes I could find out that the Rockies beat the Giants myself by looking at daily box scores, but I wouldn't know how the game was won, and it wouldn't feel exciting. I would recommend having a News section with 4 tabs for RTTS/3 tabs for franchise: News about your player (for RTTS only), news about your team, news about your division, and news from around the league as a whole.

They could also keep you aware of career milestones and season statistics. "Miggy Reaches 40 homers For 3rd Straight Season With 8th Inning Blast Off David Shields." Just a simple news headline that could add so much to the immersion. But of course, in order for that to happen, they need to overhaul another glaring weakness in the game: statistics. You can't even look at a player's stats from more than I think 5 years ago (however many seasons can fit in the player card), and even then, the stats you CAN see from the last 5 seasons can not even be called "basic" because that would be giving it too much credit. I can't even see a player's on base percentage from the previous season. Just average, homers, RBI and stolen bases.

As a manager in franchise mode, you also have no interaction at all with your Owner or anybody higher than you in the food chain other than them saying "alright here's your budget this year." In FIFA they give you goals, that could easily be done in The Show. "Based off our budget and our roster, we think we should be earning a wild card spot at the least this season." Or if you're rebuilding, "We know we're in a state of roster flux and we have a ton riding on our minor league prospects developing and arriving in the next couple years. However, we think we should at least be good enough to avoid being last in the division this year." BOOM. How hard is that? Of course they could make "Managerial Goals" an on/off option for those who don't like it. FIFA also has the ability for you to go to your owner and request additional funds. Say you want an extra $10 million to get some more pitching because you think that's the last thing that your team needs in order to contend. You go to your owner, request $10 million and then make him some sort of assurance like "we will win the division"." They can turn you down, or they can also come back and say "we can't give you $10m but we will give you $5m."

I know I keep mentioning FIFA, and I'm sure somebody will come in here and be like "well if you love FIFA so much go play that instead of The Show!" If only I liked soccer as much as baseball lol.

Depth. Immersion. Context. These things are what's missing from The Show for me. Everything on field is great (not perfect, but great). It's when I'm not on the diamond that I feel like there's something lacking.

And I just want to say that I have great confidence in the developers to bring us these things. I know these things probably weren't possible on the PS3 without having to remove a bunch of other stuff. And I know that this was the first year on the PS4. So I'm not sitting here bitching, I'm saying that I know this stuff is possible and I have faith that the devs will bring it to us. I'm sure they have a lot of ideas that are way better than mine lol.

I think the OP has an excellent point and I agree. The modes are in fact stale and they lack immersion. I stopped playing RTTS because of this since once you make it to the show and maybe get traded here and there, it becomes boring.

Franchise is better but it still lacks immersion. I got excited when I first saw "Twitter" under a player's card but then I realized it's their real life Twitter account and it killed it for me.

Why would I want to play a game with my franchise and watch players have hot and cold streaks in the game only to see a real life Twitter comment about what Encarnacion had for breakfast. Are you serious?

I want to see Encarnacion do an in-game tweet about how he crushed a 438ft homer that ended up getting a walk off win. I want to see a newspaper article about how Washington DC is going crazy after the Nats won the 2014 World Series shown with a full article and a few pictures!

All we get right now is a popup screen of "xxx team has won the world series." That really immerses me let me tell ya.
