Well yes, i think you did say something contrary, in saying that the OP should not be defensive to the extent he may be getting ridicule given his views, as you mentioned additions to the game that are there to try and prove his assertions (or others) to be invalid.

They are are not at all invalid. In fact, there may be many things that i and others may feel to be considered "inexcusable" in this day and age as far as this game is concerned.

There are those of us who may feel, given whatever "additions" you may feel should not make the game stale for others, that this game may have been one step forward and two steps back on other matters given those additions.

So i guess my point is, and one that cannot really be disputed, is that the game can be made better in some regard, and if it is, may not be as "stale" for many people who play it.

He's entitled to his opinion, but there's no need to get so defensive when people oppose his view. If you don't want dissenting views, don't post on a public forum.

The he's entitled to his opinion argument goes both ways in this case.

Did you read my post? I play other modes and I explicitly mentuioned franchise.

Franchise suffers from it more then any mode, heck even maddens twitter feed does a better job of connecting you with the wider league,.

Sometimes I wonder myself if posts are completely read, rather than a response to the thread title instead...

While I don't think the game needs to go down the 2k route, outside of actual gameplay the show does lack.

It has zero personality, imagination and immersion. But then some would say that's baseball.....

I wasn't a huge fan of the Twitter and stuff in Madden.

I would like an owner's mode that was along the lines as MVP 05. Maybe I don't remember that owner's mode very well or I am just using nostalgia but I remember it being a lot of fun. The Show is prime for an owner element.

It would nice to feel a little more connected to the league, but I wouldn't go out of the way to add Harold Reynolds, John Kruk and Tim Kurkjian fake Twitter accounts.

If you don't want responses to your posts, you are posting in the wrong forums.

Quick counts, player lock, improved ball physics, dynamic cams and a much improved RTTS system have made the game much fresher for me.

I think MLBTS has gotten to the point where it's at the pinnacle for it's genre and once again, people are going out of their way to find fault.

I agree on most of the 2k route, I think that having the ability to follow a much more complete set of stats and in a much more consice way would add a lot in the immersion factor in and of itself. I mean for a baseball game the stats are already on the thin side.

I personally think whatever is added, if it's added- like rookie news, and any type of tweets, endorsement deals etc. I feel will be bothersome after awhile..it won't be unique to each of us or each RTTS player/franchise - no way they have the time or resources for that..just like commentary. Even new commentary after a short while we start to hate it..it's like that for every sports game since forever..

Now the creators can add whatever they feel necessary, even listen to us..but in the end some will like it and others will hate it..so where do they draw that line? Concentrate on the baseball side of it..adds some stats I'd be fine with..but knowing they only have so much they can add into a game, I'll always be against the "immersion" if it takes away from other important parts..

I wish that sports games would focus more on commentary that involves things that are going on around the league, in past seasons, etc. rather than repeating the same anecdotes during every game. The commentary would be much better if they some how programmed a way for for the anecdotes to play every so often rather than every game. Hearing anything over and over for tens of hundreds of games gets old. Separate it out and it's much more tolerable. Add more anecdotes for even more players (including generated anecdotes for things like players traded, managers getting hired/fired, rookies, etc.) and I would actually call it a good feature.

NBA 2K14 actually does a great job with the stats and happenings around your team. Even after playing the game for six months straight, I'm still hearing new stuff all the time. Last night I was playing the Rockets (the team that I met in the Finals the year before) and the commentary mentioned how our teams have a heated rivalry and know each other well because we had battled in the Finals last year. That's the kind of stuff every sports game needs.

Where they can improve is (like I said) slow down on the same anecdotes. Again, they don't need to be removed, just spread them out. Also, a game like 2K14 is great about giving stats on your team and the team you're playing, but those can always be improved. Things like more updates from around the league would be great.

For The Show they could basically follow that same model as well as incorporate things like discussing a batters hot/cold, talk about how players have played the past few weeks, heck an occasional update about minor league prospect would be awesome as well.

In all honestly, the OP is dead on. What the Show lacks is personality. Sure the game play is great and like others have said, there is depth in managing your roster. However, I'd love to see players be more than just robots. Obviously, the MLB isn't the NBA, so I don't know how well a Player Morale System would work, but I'd love to see something like that added. Anything to add another wrinkle throughout the season would be a welcomed addition. A Twitter feed or a newspaper isn't everyone's cup of tea, but I know I would like to do something other than just view the standings and trade block between games. Of course, there has to be a balance here, just like the anecdotes with the commentary, no one wants to read the same stuff over and over.

Going even further I would love to see a ton of enhancements to franchise mode. The biggest glaring issue is stats. I hate not being able to see all the stats from past years, the minor leagues, etc. That's a huge part of baseball and it's continued omission is one of the biggest turnoffs for me. We're to the point where things like how players was acquired, what their injury history is, etc. needs to be logged. Things like a rookie report and comparing prospects would be great, as well. I'd love to see players moved up/down based on performance rather than injury, as well as things like chronic injuries, rehab assignments, etc.

Don't get me wrong The Show does a lot of thing right and it is a great game, but it still has a lot of areas that need to be improved.

I think people are clamoring for more advanced sabermetric type stats. Although it's better than it was. Maybe some sort of PitchFX history for pitchers.

I think in game presentation is better. I would agree, there needs to be more of "something" not sure what that is, in franchise mode. Maybe more personality for lack of a better term.

As a previous poster said though, I'd rather they keep their primary focus on the baseball part of the game, and make further additions/enhancements a secondary focus.

Actually some good points are brought up by the op. the show devs should take a look at ootp and thier association mode. combine the show gameplay plus the managing part of ootp park, for my taste we would get close to the perfect sportsgame.

If we could get a franchise mode with the depth of OOTP, but the onfield game play of The Show, I'd be divorced and unemployed. This would essentially be all I would spend my time on.
