I don't want to get the hopes up this high for graphics next year. There's only 1 year to go on, to verify this as a trend for them to make such a large improvement on the game in a new system. To me the bar is already very (or dare I say extremely) high, I would definitely expect lighting to become more improved not that it's even bad but they surely learned more they can do to make lighting more dynamic and reflective like it is in real life. Here the lights are kind of shining in one place, or at one angle. This is very nitpicky but you may get what I mean. Anyhow I'm sure they'll have learned more things about lighting they can implement for this title.

But for a graphics leap to be shattering what we have right now in '14, I'd have to expect retractable roof stadiums, amazing draw distances and nba 2k14 like player models all coming in the next game. That's a tall order for them to accomplish, and that should be their goal but I will avoid penciling those expectations in for me.

I think more realistically, we can expect new lively dugouts, more player emotion (facial reactions, demeanor's), improved surroudings outside stadiums, and possible wildcards for me, maybe a new dynamic weather system with an improved skyline and wind effects, or the grand-daddy of them all retractable roof stadiums.

Add rain delays , postponements, newspaper reports following the game, more enriched commentary improved stats, a bug and glitch free game and Santa while your at it, can I have all this before I die.......

1 year is plenty for a major upgrade, see Driveclub and Bloodborne. At E3 last year Driveclub looked like *** and now it's the graphical showcase on both systems (so far). The Bloodborne trailer that was leaked recently was supposedly from TGS '13, so in less than a year the game went from looking like a PS3 port to what we saw at E3.

Now I'm not saying a The Show will be on the level of Uncharted, but I do expect new player models and gear that look more lifelike. Those (and the occasional low res texture) are the immersion breakers for me right now.

Game graphics tend to take a hit when the game is on both last and current gen platforms. Until MLB becomes PS4 only I wouldn't expect that big a jump in graphical upgrade.

Honestly, if you think an entire team cannot upgrade what looks like upscaled PS3 graphics in one year you aren't the sharpest tool on the block.

The fields look entirely mediocre. I was just at a game where Morneau cranked one and could not help but think damn they have a lot of work to do on MLB.

Still not sure how people lie to themselves thinking this game looks like real life lol. It's not even close to half way there.

              Re: Next year and grapchis?

I said don't get your hopes up on it not that a team couldn't get it accomplished, we'll all obviously have to wait and see. But from what I've observed simply put, don't count on them doing it to such an extent. For example, the skies look painted on and you hardly ever see the sun in a stadium, but improved feeling skies and a stronger weather ambiance is a long shot to be seen in MLB 15'. In my opinion so are the completely remodeled players we all want.

Their focus is always stretched across areas we aren't probably aware of at all like new game modes introduced this season, and as pointed out no sports title has to be responsible for so many of these graphical issues because none of them are played in such environments. Obviously NBA and WWE 15 won't be played outdoors, but if you saw a glimpse NBA 2K14s outdoor mode, the surrounding were almost as arcade as you could imagine, but the players looked good..

I'm not making any excuses for MLB The Show and where they fall short, but I'm just saying why not to get my hopes up in certain areas. I still would expect alot of modest subtle improvements, one thing I can look forward for are new expression packed players, and all new lively interactions (in dugouts, onfield). Those would be some great touches, and I would expect noticeable light improvements, (not including obvious ones to come in a patch) and as a realistic long shot I'd expect to see some retractable or closed version of retractable roof stadiums and my hope for increased draw distances surrounding stadiums which I think is attainable this year too.

They have to do all this and we won't still be 100% settled on things we want, these are just things I want, and they still have to deliver a game that plays on this level, even better in fact. At least we have a game that is this far in it's progression where we can realistically look forward to these features.

I know very little about what actually goes in to video game development, but I am pretty sure that the guy working on creating and tweaking a new mode and the guy sitting and working on new player models and other graphical tweaks are not the same guy. It would be entirely possible to see both in my opinion.

The only question is, how much work are the things we are asking for going to take and how much time/resources are they going to have to work on these things?

It's like the Fenway Park situation we have every year, why for years hasn't the AL East Standings been reflected on the green monster I have no idea what the reason is. It's something I would have never even questioned was corrected in MLB 14's PS4 version but it's still the exact same issue. You can't really count on such a day to night shift in advancement in just 1 year so I would caution getting hopes up on certain expectations in MLB 15's graphics. My take is if you don't already see a trace of the advancements you want them to follow through on, it's not going to magically appear next year just because it's 2015.

Stadiums will continue to improve, ambiance will get better, retractable roofs may be possible now, because these are areas they have already started out on this year. But I see no sign that players are going to be remodeled, tattoos, etc, weather delays, and deterioration of fields. We don't even have player contact physics yet.

How or in what way have they started on retractable roofs?

Even Russel has come here and said that is on the list for the next season in his own words. But he also said no guarantees.

But the fact that they have rebuilt all of the stadiums for this system should clue everyone in that retractable roofs are not far behind.

I see. Well hopefully all the bugs new n old are higher up on that list!!!! Personally I could care less about a retractable roofs. Like I said in another thread, it's a great n fun game but the list of bugs that haven't been fixed in the past and the new bugs... Well that list is getting kinda long. Bugs or glitches.

                          What bugs and glitches?

Personally, i'd rather see retractable roofs over anything else right now except for maybe new player models.

Nail on the head. The colors are awful. Take all of the colored jerseys, they are not sharp, but flat and faded looking. Same with the sky. The colors don't pop as I perceived them in years past.

I am truly guilty of expecting too much. I had a solid plan to wait and purchase the 4 in '15 but I talked myself into splurging this year. Took on some extra work to justify the purchase. The PS3 is still the better game simply because it virtually looks the same, plays the same, and still has classic stadiums (man, I miss playing in the classic stadiums).

Hopefully next year this year's experience will be distant memory.
