Well it looks like PS4 software 2.00 will have lots of new features including a new USB Music player which will allow you to listen to your music from a usb stick while gaming.

USB Music Player: PS4 owners can play their own music in the background while playing a game using USB Music Player*. After inserting a USB stick loaded with music into the PS4, a new option for USB Music Player will appear. Supported filename extensions include MP3, MP4, M4A, and 3GP.

So the big question I am sure we are all wondering is does this mean Sounds of the show will be returning in MLB 15 The Show? The fact that you need to use a usb stick instead of putting the music files on the PS4 itself is a little disappointing if you ask me.

How would Sounds Of The Show work if we can't actually put the music files onto the PS4 from our USB?

I'm literally stunned by this. I've been waiting for update 2.0 for almost a year now in anticipation of mp3 playback capability. I can't over state enough how much my immersion in the show is destroyed by not allowing S.O.T.S. why can't Sony just stop playing games and simply give us what we enjoyed on the "last generation" PS3? I guess this is what you have to deal with when the company that makes your favorite game is broke!

I'd wait if it was that important.
I'm not sure off the USB drive is going to allow it to work with SotS....
It might have to be on the PS4 HDD and this update is not allowing copying to the HDD(I'm pretty sure)

Exactly my thought. Kind of making me nervous.

Unless you have your external hard drive as your main PS4 hard drive, then it would work. I think you can do this, right?

MLBTS might have been preparing for SOTS but that doesn't mean they are/were privy to any mp3 policy updates from Sony (imo). If this half compromise is truly the case then SOTS is still dead for the moment.

* User can play music files stored inside USB storage but cannot copy music files to PS4 HDD. This application cannot be used at the same time with Music Unlimited. USB Music Player will appear once USB storage is inserted, and will disappear once USB storage is removed.

I'm also certain you won't be able to utilize any share feature (ie recording) when you have USB Music Player in operation. Otherwise they would simply have allowed us to embed it into the HDD. Lets hope the player will at least have a dynamic sound quality to fit within certain game modes in other titles.

Now that I think about it, I don't see why it's not possible to use SOTS integrated with the USB Music Player. Its simply an external source for the music to come from. If only the SOTS mode could keep the directories the same so we don't have to manually apply our sounds of the show each time. I don't know, I just guess it's still possible.

Don't believe this will work with SoTS. One of the driving games that is coming out said that this update won't be for "in-game" music like that, just for general music playing over the top of your games. They wanted the same thing we do and this wasn't it, apparently.

We've still got awhile till MLB 15 comes out. Hopefully by then SOTS will be possible on PS4 because I won't be buying the game until it is.

I dont know if its gonna work or not but I sure hope so. if it does I for one think that using a usb is perfect. for 1 my ps4 hard drive is full all the time already let alone having a bunch of music on it. 2. I can make the songs and just put them on a usb straight from my cpu. no need to copy them to the ps4. sounds awesome to me.
