I lived in LA for four years, and I can navigate through the parts of Los Santos solely based on that.

The whole copyright thing is a bummer because my favorite thing to do is play "all-time" leagues with all the historic players, but it's a huge pain in the rear to create them all.

(Also, this is kind of cool.)

        Giants: Willie Mays
        D'Backs: Randy Johnson
        Rockies: Larry Walker
        Padres: Tony Gwynn

        Cubs: Ernie Banks
Cardinals: Ozzie Smith (would prefer Bob Gibson or Stan Musial)
        Brewers: Robin Yount
        Pirates: Roberto Clemente
Reds: Pete Rose (lol, j/k) Johnny Bench/Joe Morgan (too close to call)

        Mets: Keith Hernandez
        Nats (Expos): Tim Raines
        Braves: Hank Aaron
        Marlins: Luis Castillo
Phillies: Mike Schmidt (would be fine with Steve Carlton)

        Angels: Chuck Finley
        Mariners: Ken Griffey Jr.
A's: Jose Canseco (lol, j/k) Rickey Henderson
        Rangers: Nolan Ryan
        Astros: Jeff Bagwell

        White Sox: Nellie Fox
        Twins: Kirby Puckett
        Tigers: Al Kaline
        Royals: George Brett
        Indians: Bob Feller

        Yankees: Mickey Mantle
Red Sox: Ted Williams or Yaz
Orioles: Cal Ripken Jr. (would prefer Brooks Robinson)
        Blue Jays: Roberto Alomar
Rays: ummm Greg Vaughn? Rocco Baldelli? Rolando Arrojo?

One thing is clear--one player from each franchise is not enough. I think they'll also shy away from players who had significant careers with two or more teams.

My list was better. Seriously no Griffey Jr.? Andre Dawson with the Natspos is just plain weird. He's a Cub! Don't like them passing over Gwynn AT ALL. The Will Clark, Orel Hershiser, Ralph Kiner, and Phil Niekro picks leave something to be desired. It's not possible to do this kind of thing right with ONE legend per team, but man o man leaving out Hammerin Hank, The Say Hey Kid, and El Howitzer is pretty befuddling.

The MLB doesn't have one group that covers all retired players or players in the HOF. I think you can figure out the rest on your on.

Yeah, I'm sure the economics of the issue is a big factor with how much these guys 'cost' to get, but from a baseball perspective many people would say that Willie Mays is the greatest all around player that ever lived. Hard to imagine a set of all time "Legends" without him. It's also interesting to see that some inner circle guys like Teddy Ballgame and Nolan Ryan are so much easier to get than other guys who were probably too expensive and/or refused their likeness to be used (Mays, Mantle, Ripken, Gwynn...)

I think this Legends feature is a good start, but any baseball fan knows we're going to need a wider selection to truly do it 100 with this.

SCEA brokered this deal with the MLB Players Alumni Association. The most likely scenario with players like Mays, Ripken or Gwynn is not that they turned it down but that they're just not affiliated with the MLBPAA and therefore were not eligible for the deal.

They definitely weren't trying to build a Dream Team with this roster, considering the inclusion of Hershiser, Niekro, Cliff Floyd etc.

In a way I understand the Will Clark pick: he is beloved by Giants fans. On the other hand, in my MLB All-Time League Clark didn't make the Giants 25 man roster... in other words, that Giants have a ton of legendary players, and choosing Clark seems peculiar.

I can't fault the Ralph Kiner pick though. Wagner is automatically excluded because of his era. Who would you have preferred? Clemente or Stargell? Kiner was a monster. Not that homeruns are the end-all-stat of offensive production, but check out these homerun totals. Led the league 7 straight seasons. Kiner had a short career, but man could he mash.

I don't think you'll find one Giants fan that has a problem with Will Clark being the chosen Giant. They have so many hall of famers and while it would've been cool if Mays was in the game, its nice they have switched it up. I really enjoy this list. It would be great if Griffey jr was in but how awesome is it that Edgar Martinez is in! You can make Griffey pretty easily with his stance already being in. Im glad they went with a list you couldnt predict and went with a lot of guys we havent seen in the game yet.

Maybe it's already been said or is obvious, but someone from SCEA was interviewed on MLB Network XM radio today and said they plan to expand with the legends in years to come and keep adding to the list.

I was just hoping for Don Slaught or Mike LaValliere.

I think that's pretty obvious. No one with a functioning brain would think a single legend from each team would be satisfactory given the rich history of this game. It's a start.

He's still relatively new to being retired, compared to other players... but...

I'm actually hoping that in next year's game (or the year beyond that) they add Pedro Martinez to the player pool. He was one of my favorite players when I started watching baseball, and the first player I was truly sad to see retire.

For my money, Petey is the best pitcher ever. Especially if you're more of a peak guy than a longevity guy. Would love to see him in for the BoSox down the road.

I wonder what the ratings will look like for these guys? Hard to imagine them all being 99s. I mean, Steve Finley for the Dbacks? Cliff Floyd? These are mid 80s talents at best....right?

Hopefully they don't crank these guys ratings up just simply because they are legends. Will Clark for example. What's he? 91? 92? 93?

Even Nolan Ryan - he has great counting stats due to his longevity and certainly had some dominant years, but never won a Cy Young . I suppose it depends on if they model the players on one peak year, or three peak years, or a career?

                            Thoughts?

Is this confirmed? So even Cliff Floyd would be a 90? I guess they base this on his one really good year (2001) ? Plus having someone rated 95+ simply because they are HoF'er is very arbitrary.
