Legends of the past 70 years, so that's pretty much a cut off date anyone before the 1940's. Which eliminates some named in this thread.
Cy Young, Ty Cobb, Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig among those.

Ruth and Gehrig aren't within the seemingly post-WWII time frame in the game descriptions. How can you have legends without Babe Ruth and Walter Johnson? But it seems like they're just too early. I forgot about Carew. I would put him over the impaler. (Greatest nickname ever.) The Pirates were a toss up for me. And Ozzie Smith was just my favoritism. Ozzie is top 5 for me when it comes to players I've watched... mid 80's forward. But I can see Bob Gibson would be the better virtual player to go with. Who's going to get excited drawing the card of a defensive wizard? My guesses to ballpark his stats... 80s contact, 20s power, 80s speed, 90s defense, 80s patience, 80s clutch, 90s duribility, 90s stealing. Doesn't seem so bad than I initially thought.

Perfect.. except interchange Jeff Bagwell for Craig Biggio in Houston, Barry Bonds for Willie Mays in San Fran and Albert Belle for Jim Thome in Cleveland.

I went with Biggio because of the hit total and he was an Astro longer. The list seems to be lacking a definitive first basemen, though. Bonds is too much of a hot water issue to be in the game. Willie Mays is an original San Francisco Giant, and probably top 5 player of all time. Ruth, Williams, Gehrig, Mays, and Musial get my votes. Thome was an Indian longer. He finished with 600 career home runs. I'm sure his stance is in the game still, lol. And speaking of not really having a definitive first basemen and admittedly being on the fence for the Cardinal legend. Why not bump The Wizard of Oz for Mr. Cardinal Stan Musial himself?

Just as there will never be another Jordan, there will never be another Bonds. Bonds had an aura around him and a certain attitude that can never be duplicated. When he hit the ball he knew whether it was gone or not. Most players nowadays make the mistake of thinking ones out.. only to be disappointed.
That is why & only why I call him the Michael Jordan of MLB.

On a side note.. I might have made a mistake thinking Sony was going to give Legends for a playable game when it might just be some kind of cards. Who knows anymore?

This is what I've been thinking all along...a whole lot of talk about nothing.

If you enjoy playing with classic players or rosters, there is no way this feature will appease a diehard. It is what it is I guess.

There will easily be another Bonds as the technology gets better. Anyone can learn to beat the steroid tests and then put up his numbers. Look at the numbers he put up when he was with Pittsburgh. He would not have hit the most homeruns in baseball history without steroids ie his is not MJ and will never be MJ. The player is most like MJ is Hank Aaron.

You may think of homers (& peds) when you think of Bonds, but you definitely don't think of championships.
The Giants needed to purge themselves of Bonds to become the champions they are today.

Yep, even though MJ could have bad mojo around him if you believe in conspiracies. This being that he was a gambler and bet on NBA games and Stern convinced him to "take a chance" at baseball for 3 years so he wouldn't have to suspend the best player in NBA history. When I think of Jordan, championships then individual statistics with his OWN talent. Bonds think of Steroids nothing else.
