Yeah, I guess the user just selected them, same as the stadium. Which brings me back to not understanding why they didn't just play a regular home game...lol. Maybe they wanted the Phillies to bat first? I dunno. Definitely makes for a weird look though.

Anyway, sorry OP....didn't mean to get sidetracked on the video. There is certainly plenty to be done about presentation and animations regardless from where one pulls examples from.

More on point, I'm not sure I'd consider signature walkups, etc as my "one necessity" at this point (for me, things like stat tracking and league history would take precedence...not to mention some more general animation fluidity and transition), but I get you...especially on seeing the full animation get played out rather than cut off. Hopefully it all gets some attention.

On another side note, I recently read an article talking about how retailers were surprised at how many people have abandoned and/or moved forward from the older systems already this time around (compared to the previous transition between generations). Hopefully this bodes well for just how fast we can move from splitting priorities, so we can see all these details come to fruition sooner than later.

        Yes....of course I can.
        Plenty of the animations need
        -reworking
-toning down (well....more of adding ani's to be triggered in the same place instead of...that's why you see a lot of the same ani's....there aren't enough to be triggered

I believe the reason why people have adopted the new systems so quickly and readily has to do with the fact the previous generation went on for about 2 years too long.

I only brought up MLB 2k8 because it is the best representation of signature animations in a sports game ever seen. The 2K baseball series would then live off of what they did in that one title for 5 yrs following. Most will never realize this.
I really want to see Sony San Diego Studio duplicate or surpass this benchmark that was once set. Anyone that still has access to PS3 or X-box 360 check out this title and tell me I'm/we're wrong.

Thank you for listening and arguing.

If only we could get that kind of attention to animation to go along with the look of this series on PS4.
YES!! The animations, especially for pitchers, was amazing compared to the show. I love the show, but the pitching animations have been stuck in PS2 days for a while now.

Well, the last system came out when the market was teetering on busting. Now that we are back on track, people have more to spend on these systems.

This isn't really about animations, but stadiums. (But since that thread is locked....) I'm really hoping the stadium team fixed the Fenway issue where in the At Bat area of the monster, it displays the correct number, instead of just the first number twice. (And on that note, the standings need to be more dynamic too).

it would take forever for them to add in all those animations.
i just want the hr camera gone. and i want to see the ball trajectory after contact before it switches to the fieldung cam.

Re: One necessity: MLB The Show 15/16 animations

The thing is Sony had some pretty good signature animations before MLB The Show 12 when they revamped the presentation. Since then they have not paid close attention to little details with batters. Check out Ryan Howards walk up after MLB 11.. the extra long in depth animations are not there anymore & that's just one example. A few more would be Carlos Beltran, David Ortiz and Alex Rodriguez at-bat animations... there are a lot more. But maybe Howards longer walk up was removed because it did not fit in to the all new abbreviated walk ups, step in/step out, take pitch, swing & miss animations that are now the norm?

Hopefully MLB 15 (PS4) will make me look/sound foolish.

one thing i would love to see added as a cut scene to the game is the raking of the dirt after the 3rd, and 6th innings. also the changing of the bases... i mean if we are talking about things that go on that no one thinks about but is a every day happening in baseball..

how about during what ever inning they happen in whatever stadium your playing in having the race of the day. like in Oakland it is the dot race... show it on the big screen just like in the park...

                        that would be cool.

since we have signs in the game now how about being able to expand on those and put them where they are in their real parks... think about oakland... sign heaven... what part of that stadium in the outfield doesnt have a sign hanging off if it...

again just a few ideas off the top of my head...

Errr... the icing affects how the cake tastes though. A cake with no icing is not very appealing.

Also 8 year old icing should not look and taste better than icing that is brand new. That's just gross haha.

I would rank completely overhauled pitching windup animations over batter walkup animations. Most of the time I skip through batter walkups - but pitching motions are horrendous, and visible the whole time.

Not just the windups themselves, but the follow throughs need to be fixed.

Please have some actual baseball players, even college kids, record the pitching motions. Front arms flying wide open, stiff front legs, herky-jerky animations - ugh. They are terrible.

                                If possible, I believe that:
Every 40 man roster as of whenever SCEA finalizes the game must have their own signature stuff mocapped
                                This includes:
The entire pitching staff, from Ace to Closer
                                All batters
Any minor league prospects that are on the 40-man because if they've made it that far, they will probably be called up soon
I realize that the minor league stuff might be a stretch because of licensing, but at least players who got optioned down but have MLB experience (i.e. CJ Cron) need to have their sig animations
