With the new control scheme not dictating stride, makes it completely worthless to me. I don't care about the 300,000 people who don't voice their opinion and may like the new way...Striding was an option I enjoyed because it allowed me to use it as a timing mechanism, like real batters do.

One step forward, two steps back.

Actually now it's just one step forward. SCEA removed the two steps back to streamline it.

Seems like something the devs could easily include for those who still want to use the analog to simulate striding. I know it's going to take me a long, long time to get used not having to do it, and pulling back on the stick helps so much with timing.

        It just feels natural.

Thanks for the heads up Russell. I really appreciate the extra communication from you guys, even when it's bad news...

If they do that, they might as well put the stride back because you are basically circumventing the design change. It would have to be a separate option which puts you back to square one.

This new analog swing system sounds like it's straight from the 2k series. Not a good choice by scea, really what is the difference between pushing a button or pushing up on a stick.

Yeah, I'd definitely recommend trying it out. It does still feel pretty natural, and makes since in the real life approach to hitting. Just the execution has been changed, IMO.

                  Edit: better?

Still disappointed by this decision but I'll live with it. On the other hand, if they copy 2k's gesture based analog system for pitching I'll lose all respect for this series.

So it's completely gone or will there at least be an "classic" option?

You are going to be surprised by the outrage of people when the game comes out... Prepare for sub-6 metacritic scores. This is the biggest mistakes you have every made developing this incredible game.

Only a minority of people who are going to buy the game watches the streams or reads these forums. When they find out, trolls are going to come and no matter how great this game going to be otherwise, they are going to cost you money.

A hitting interface is the most important thing in a game like this. I have never ever tried any other hitting interface apart from pure analog in the past 4 years.

I'm going to save this thread for February, 2016 when you announce to re-include Pure Analog again. Just sad...

The only analog option available for 15 is the revamped one.

Revamped would mean improved. Nothing about this screams improvement.

As far as our options...I'll give the new directional hitting a shot, though I'm sure it can't be used with the analog controls. We'll see if it can bring back some of that MVP flair.

It depends what side of the fence you are on. If it is someone who could not do stride timing it is possible that it has become more approachable which would mean improvement. Then there is your side of the fence.
